Hi everyone,
I have a breeder that I have been in contact with. I am on a wait list and had indicated that I would like a kitty after May.

I am looking for advice from all of you.

She has a kitten that was born on October 10. She is an odd eye and the cutest kitten I have seen. The breeder has gone through her wait list and no one wants her. I emailed her and asked if there were health issues and if that was why no one wanted her. She said she was perfectly healthy. I suspect the reason is that the colouring is such that she has black on her head and she looks like she is wearing a toupee!

My question - I am going to be travelling and will be gone for about 12 days. My son will look after her but he will only come once a day after work and stay for about an hour. So she would be alone at least 23 hours per day.

Would it be unfair to the kitty to buy her because I did initially tell the breeder I didn’t want one until this summer.

Is there anything else I should be concerned about?

Thanks everyone.

@Annejo12 , bless you for keeping your hearts open to love.

Awwh, she sounds like a precious beautiful girl. Your breeder knows you are a purrfect mum/dad.

**** I personally would ask your breeder if she can keep her for those apx 12 days :) its not too long

However, I personally would not leave a newbie baby home alone for 23 hours each day while away, too much to get into and it’s a big new world.

For me, I would definitely ask if they can keep her for just those 12 days more knowing she will have a purrfect forever home.

* I forgot to ask is breeder is spaying her? sharing when I adopted ClaireBare,my breeder spayed her and kept her for at least a month for hormones to settle and set up a gotcha day.

Let me know what breeder says..

Thank you for your response. You have valid points.

I have also talked to a friend who would take her while I’m gone.

I told the breeder I would let her know today. I fell in love with this kitty even before Raphael passed away. But I know there will be others.

So exciting for you!!!!

I would see if she will be spayed and if possible she can stay the 12 days while you’re traveling.

I personally wouldn’t have her alone for 23hrs in a new home.

Wow exciting….I totally a great option is asking if breeder can hold longer. There might be a nominal fee included, but less stress on the kitten etc. Keep us updated!!!!!

The kitten would be six months old when I am travelling. I have a friend who has said she would take her while I’m gone. She is also retired and would be spending all day with her.

I just have a few more questions for the breeder and when I hear back I will make my decision. I had originally said I didn’t want another one before June but this one is so darn cute and for some reason the people on her wait list didn’t want her.

I also asked advice from my vet and she also said the same thing about leaving the kitten alone for too long.

Hopefully I make the right decision when I hear back from the breeder. I will let you know!

Thanks!

Oh what a difficult decision for you to make.
I hope talking to your breeder will give you the answers to make a decision. Just follow your heart. I am sure leaving the kitten 12 days with a friend will do the kitten or the bond you will have with the kitten no harm.
But most important is, that you feel okay with it!
