The culprit
I would have pulled it.. I'm used to previous cats and tinsel butt lol!... But she couldn't even get it out a little bit... It had tied her intestines closed---Wow, reminds me of my furry cat Kiwi years ago! I raised her from the time she was two days old and one day while she was still young, but not a kitten anymore, I noticed she had just come out of the litterbox and had a tiny piece of poo stuck to her butt. I took a tissue to take it off and I noticed a very short piece of THICK black thread hanging from her butt. (That's why the bit of poo was stuck there). I was used to seeing my daughter's very long hair sticking out of my cats and dogs butts all the time (they would manage to eat her hair...don't ask me how LOL).
So I figured I could do what I always do when I see a long hair hanging from my pets' butts and that is to gently pull it out! Well, I kept pulling and pulling ... hand OVER hand on this THICK black thread from Kiwi's butt until it all came out.
I took her right to the vet because the thread had a nectrotic stench coming from it.
She obviously found a tiny piece of black thread sticking out of my sewing box and she pulled and pulled and ate a very long piece. It was an industrial type of thick thread that cannot be broken off unless using scissors.
She needed liquid Flagyl and that wasn't fun. She hated it. She didn't need surgery as it worked it's way out (with my help), but when I saw your attached pic of what came out of your little girl...it so reminded me of Kiwi's experience.
Thank goodness you took her to the vet and your vet was wonderful in more ways than one.![]()
I would have pulled it.. I'm used to previous cats and tinsel butt lol!... But she couldn't even get it out a little bit... It had tied her intestines closed---the pic is only a fraction of the thread they found. They were so intrigued by the mess my girl had made of her insides that they took pix and documented it for future problems with other animals n vets lol bad skittles! And it wasn't a thick thread more of a silk n delicates thread--- so it would have just sliced her if I did pull... *shakes head*
Lol I'm so grateful and blessed
Lol tinsel butt it was the first name that came to mind haha
But yes it would have been a terrible idea to pull even if she did pass enough to grab.
I can't get over how happy she is! Even my vet said "u could tell she was very sick. Her personality today compared to the last couple days--- she's a complete different cat." She's back to owning our home and our hearts
