Looks like an infected pimple. It might be too tender to pop. Try a hot compress to see if it comes to a head. If in doubt take him to a vet. Babas has had 2 of these in the past (if it is the same thing) and I popped them. They did bleed and left a huge hole, but healed up in a couple of days with no problem.

Like catzzzmeow said it could be a pimple, or it does look like it might be a little surface hematoma (especially since you say it's bloody). Either way a compress should help and may bring it to a head or help the fluid reabsorb.

Poor Charlie. Hope the compress helped. Graddy has had a few of those that I've popped and pus seeped out and he always seemed so much better after the pop so I hope it's just that.

Do not squeeze or compress the area!! You need to allow it to come to top on its own, and break the skin or you risk infection or worse.. When it breaks, you will notice, then you can lightly press from the sides to eject the underlying puss (yeah, yuk i know)

Our boy Kuato had this exact symptom a few weeks ago, looked like yours to start, then got so big, it looked like he had gotten into a boxing match.. Man one big swollen lip.. I took him to the vet, as the normal warm washcloth wasnt doing the trick..

Vet said looks to be a typical Indolent Ulcer, also called the rodent ulcer (no not bit by a rat, lol)

He received a injection of Convenia (80mg / .46 cc), and Prednisolone (5mg / 16cc) to take the rest of week, Next day seepage began, and slightly messaged inward and drained completely, within 3 days, you could not tell he ever had a issue...

So if it starts to really swell and look bad, def. needs to see a vet, the antibiotic alone is worth making sure he doesnt get a underlying infection from it..

It looks like a pimple that IS NOT ready to pop yet. Wait til it gets a head on it. Just wait and see. If it continues to be red like it is, then take him to the vet. Good Luck!

Arthur had one like that.
It came up quite suddenly and popped by it's self in my bed - yuk, but within a few days was no longer red and angry looking and healed quickly.

I figured it was an infected blackhead and after it popped it was all good. It was in nearly exactly the same spot as your boys as well.

Like he was chewing on some wire and it poked him in the mouth?

Sorry that Charlie has this going on. It's very painful...especially where it is too.
I honestly wouldn't pop it...and I'm a blackhead popper of cat's chins too!
This is very inflamed and you don't want to pop it and spread the infection.
I can't tell you that you have to take him to the vet, but I can tell you that I certainly would be on my way to my vet's office right now. You want to treat this properly so that it doesn't come back or cause his to get a fever.
Good luck and give your little Charlie a kiss. Kissing boo boos always helps. But I'd want this treated by my vet if it was on my boys.

Glad you are reading your cat...hopefully it is nothing, and who knows, by then if it is a pimple, it might pop on it's own Let us know. After Babas got his second pimple (same area as yours) I started making sure I used baby wipes more consistently. I am sure it must hurt him...I know when I get under the skin pimples they hurt.

You are welcome. I feel better knowing that you will be going to the vet. If it's some sort of cyst from a blackhead that got out of hand, you don't want it to come back again and again.

I'm sure that the vet will take good care of your baby and everything will be fine in no time without any guesswork. I know how we panic over seeing things like this that don't belong on our babies. They mean so much to us...words cannot even describe.

Please give us an update after you see the vet.

Sphynx cats get those & blackheads sometimes. Is his feeding dishes made of plastic, ceramic or stainless steel? Just asking, because plastic harbors many germs, and Sphynx cats can get these ulcers more often. Keep us posted.

We all here like to know the end results, as MANY times, people on here will do a search first to see if other issues like this has come up or other things.. And when threads are left UN updated, it leaves many having to post the same thing.. PLEASE help the community, and the many people who have responded to you in the time of NEED.. And update this post with the final results, whether it be you took to vet, or let it progress on its own or whatever other outcome.. It does help the whole community believe it or not...

Don't worry too much. It looks like an intense zit. Yes, a hot compress as others have suggested should help. Are your food & water bowls plastic? If so, its best to use ceramic or stainless steel, because these materials harbor less bacteria. Keep us posted. Sphynx can get black heads & zits near their mouths because of the oil in their skin.

Many of us often make new threads on the same topic for several reasons. If someone is on tapatalk it only opens up to the latest thread and you have to go back to the original post which can be several pages back and cannot just be scrolled. Also when posts are this old, a new thread is more direct as an update, as older posts often are overlooked if an update comes through days later. When in doubt, I just PM the person and ask how they made out sorry you get frustrated. I think we all just find what is comfy to us individually, but so happy it ultimately is about the cats.
