...First, I apoligize this is so long...

Hello All! My name is Callie, and I've wrote a thread about how I was introduced to the Sphynx love of my life, Roobas. But, today after work, I am picking up another Sphynx. She's a suprise for everyone, and I wasn't going to post anything, because I didn't want to jinx myself, but Gizzymom easily convinced me to post this thread early...

NOTE: I was supposed to take down the 'wanted' ad, because I re-inherieted my first cat (he adopted my Father, but my Dad is moving), so putting us at four cats, my fiance said "NO MORE". Only my best friend (and now all you guys) knows about my picking up a new Sphynx...So to prepare for an upset fiance, I bought him the expensive Carhartt Jacket he's been drooling over, so when I bring her home, I will give him the jacket at the same time and say, "How can you be mad at me?!":LOL:

Onto my new girl...

I have yet to meet her, but I've named her already.."Asha" (like Tasha or Sasha). It means 'Hope'. She is a Dilute Calico, with no background. I was told she is under two, but I will check with my Vet. She is a rescue...And I mean, a real rescue!:Cry:

A wonderful woman emailed me (replying to an ad I had about interest in adopting another Sphynx), said she had three Sphynx rescues that need forever homes. She not only is a Sphynx breeder, but she an 'underground' rescue (She has placed 500+ animals in the past 25yrs and has a full time job).

Onto the Sphynxes...Two are attached males, feral due to the previous owners illness, and being unable to socialize with them. Vet records came with them, but they need extra time to accept a family and need someone with experience dealing with feral cats. Since I only have room for one cat it's not an option for me BUT I am bringing my best friend along, and she is happily adopting the males.

Now, to my girl. Asha was dropped off at a Vet Clinic about a month ago. The owners dropped her off to be euthanized!! Thank God, the Vet Tech brought her to this wonderful woman. This girl has no history. She came to this woman with severe eye trama. Their not sure if it was an untreated infection, or from abuse. She is a victim of abuse, even if the eye is not part of it, and she has trust issues (I don't blame her).:Cry:

She's going to be confined to my bedroom, and I will slowly introdue her to my other cats, and the rest of the house. But, I am not expecting her to adjust for a over a month's time. Even though I am not supposed to get another cat, I feel fortunate that this woman responded to my ad, because I know with me, I can ensure her a great home. She's not a new kitten, or a 'perfect' cat, and even though she comes with some baggage, I am happy to open my home and heart to her!

I will post on this thread when I come home with her  And I am sure my friend will post a new thread about her boys after they settle in. Sorry for the long story, I tried to shorten it as much as I could... I will update with her recovery!!

Thanks to anyone and everyone who may send warm wishes to Asha and the boys. And thanks for reading their story!

Awww! Bless your heart for opening your home to this poor baby! You have given her hope and life and she will reward you with love. The rescues are the best - they definitely seem grateful for a second chance! Can't wait to see pics of her and your friend's boys. Keep us posted on their progress - I'm sure they'll warm up quickly with all the love!

That is just awesome, Callie!!! Is she missing an eye? or just blind in one eye?

I am so glad you found her as well... Not many people want to be bothered with a special needs cat, especially one with multiple special needs!! You are such a good mommy!!!

And your fiance will be fine.... Guys like to "put their foot down", but can easily be convinced otherwise!!

And tell your friend that she is a great mommy as well!!!

Thank you!!! I will tell her that she's a good Mommy too

Luckily, Asha is not missing the eye, and not blind. But, if it goes untreated, it's possible she will become blind. I know she doesn't like her face touched, and he will not let her ear be messed with on that side. She also doesn't like to be held unless you hold her tight and talk to her. She is going to be a big project, but I can't wait!!

And yes, I think my fiance will be fine I hinted the other day "if I got a rescue Sphynx would you be okay with that?!" He said "If you got a Sphynx as a rescue, I'd say your full of crap" he thinks I'd trick him, lol. But, it's obvious that she is in need of love and care, and he has such a soft spot for cats...He is actually the on that tucks Roobs in bed

Thank you everyone for your support!

That is great you are saving her and your friend is getting the boys.
I would love to see a ton of pics of her.
I love her name also of course I have a Sasha.

Lol, it's funny because after I already choose the name, I realized my half-sister, on my Father's side will be stoked (her name is Sasha) and my Mother will laugh (her name is Natascha).

And thank you, I will be taking many pictures after she settles in!!

My Sasha is a Russian Blue Mix.
She is solid blue.
I wonder if the breeder that rescues is the same one my friend got her rescue sphynx from.
Her cat is from Washington State also.
I posted on my fb and one of the breeders saw it and happened to have sime rescues.

You are an angel. Not many people want to be bothered with a cat that has baggage. It sounds like you got a handle on this. You are realistic about it taking time. Once you get her turned around - she will probably be so loving and thankful and be the sweetest kitty ever. I definitely want to hear her progress.

I think the trio is very lucky to have found you and your friend and you have very big hearts for taking them under your wings. Please tell your friend about us, she could probably pick up some advice even if she only lurks.

I think the kitties will reward you with years of love, once they get fixed up and settled in. Asha is a lovely name, very dignified.

Bless you and your friend for giving these poor kitties a second chance.

First of all, I love love love the name! Seriously love the name...if I get a girl, I just might steal it! Second, I am major waterworks over here. It just breaks my heart to think of what animals all over go through...human cruelty!:Angry::Angry: I just can't see the eyes of a pet who has been mistreated, neglected, physically and mentally abused. It just breaks my heart to a point to not being able to function. And makes my blood boil to a point I want to rip someones eyes and ears out so that they can experience the pain they have inflicted on these helpless creatures! Okay, okay, I just needed to get that off my chest. Thank you thank you thank you SOOOO much for taking her in and making her your own, you are a precious soul, and in the end (and the road will be a long one), you'll reap the greatest joy and love story of your little girl overcoming her fears and connecting with true love....the love of her momma!! (and daddy...I'm sure her story of struggle just has to melt him!)

When I spoke with her foster mom on the phone, and she gave me the detailed information of her past, I wanted to cry. When I think about her and everything she's gone through, it still makes me tear up. But, I feel like she was meant to find me. I will protect her from this harsh world and never let her to experience pain ever again. And I hope that I can give her a life of luxery, just being loved and cared for every day. Surely, she deserves it!

I just don't understand how someone could abuse a creature that needs you to live. Something that just gives you unconditional love and wants it in return. She doesn't have any bad habits, very well behaved, and wouldn't believe she did anything wrong to those heartless people. If I could get the information of the people that dropped her off, I would turn them in for animal abuse, but since I can't, I will just protect Asha from ever experiencing anything even close to what she has dealt with!

Thank you for the encouragement. I am happy to be the one who will give her the love she needs and deserves!

So sweet. This story sounds like the same story at my house. I have 5 sphynx, 1 persian, and 1 dachshund, then a rescue in alabama said they had a severely abused hairless dachshund ( lost hair due to vitamin deficiency ). she had major trust issues! So I paid to have her transported to Deleware with out asking my husband. I just went and picked her up. I feel like she needed me.lol When I came home with her my husband said That better be a really long crazy looking sphynx( he loves the sphynx cats). Needless to say he knows how I am and that I love my animals and what is one more furless mouth to feed. So he let me keep her of course! LOL but I have had her since October and she is coming around with her trust issues. she has grown most of her hair back and loves my cats. I have a soft heart for all animals. The guys they come around!!!I hope you have good luck with your new kitty. I also love the name.

Bless you for being this little girl's angel of mercy. I am certain she will come around--I believe there is no difficulty that enough love won't overcome...no wall that enough love will not throw down. Asha IS perfect...she's the perfect fit for your heart. Thank you for loving her and giving her a chance at the kind of life she deserves.

Thank you to you and your friend for giving these babies a forever loving home. She may not be perfect to some but she IS perfect and she will be in heaven once she comes home with you and gets to experience what it is to be loved and wanted. I am sure she will come out of her shell and begin to trust again and she will be a different cat.

I can't wait to see pictures of her! Hopefully your friend will join SL and share pictures and stories of hers as well!

Sending you warm thoughts for a good homecoming and days ahead....
