Hey folks! So just wondering how you all cope with the hot weather and your indoor kitties?

Yesterday was the first time here in the UK we actually have had warm weather since i got Church and opening the windows is slightly concerning me in case he was to try and escape, we are third floor in a block of flats and because were top floor the heat rises and it does become very warm indeed!

Will he be okay in the heat with the windows shut? when he sits by the window hes incredibly warm ..and is there any preventions i can use to keep him from trying to get out get? Very worried as its a massive drop from our windows.

Thanks in advance

I also live in the uk, I only opened windows on the latch so they couldn't get out. They do go out in my garden so my back doors are always open anyway in the summer. Maybe you could buy some grills to open your windows wider?

When you say in the heat keeping the windows shut, do you have a Air conditioner, Central air?
You could keep it on and make sure he doesn't lay in the sun too much.
Put his cat tree where he gets only morning sun.
Close the curtains or blinds. I would not trust him if I didn't have good screens in my house.

So I know the heat is a lot different here in Georgia than the UK.... However with that said it will get to be 110 degrees in the summer at times with 100% humidity. All four of my Sphynx have the option of being in the house with the AC (about 78 degrees) or outside on the screened in porch at all times of the year. They don't ever get direct sunlight when they are on the porch up they do get some sun. The always choose to be on the porch when it's nice and hot outside. So I would say to please screen in any opening to the outdoor world and let them enjoy the fresh air. Even Violet who had never been outside till we got her loves sitting out on the porch taking in the warmth. Curly will get darker in the summer from being out there (maybe the light reflecting off the pool makes her tan). I have never put sunscreen on them but then again they are not in direct sunlight.
