Hey everyone just wondering how many ounces of food do you guys feed yours Sphynx's on a daily basis? Right now I'm feeding Hudson 5 oz of Raw a day as well as chicken necks twice a week but he still howls for more food. The Raw recommendation says he should be consuming only 3.4 oz a day but I know Sphynx's generally require double the feeding size because of their metabolism. I just don't want to start feeding him more if it'll make him fat.

Wow, I must be over feeding Yoda then! I feed him 3 - 3oz cans of Fancy Feast a day. and he still screams for more food so I keep some dry food on hand and feed it to him a tiny bit at a time. He doesnt look fat at all!

12-21 ounces per cat a day?? That seems like a lot.

400-600grams that can't be right that is way too much. A 100 lb dog eats 800 grams a day, so two cats, can't be eating that much. Cats should have 113-150 a day mine change each day, depending on how they feel. But naturally cats will always beg for more, see of mine do. Cats are scavengers,in their minds they don't know when the next meal is going to come. So anytime you go near the kitchen they will scream for more. If you fed them how much they wanted you would have an obese cats.

I only feed Izmae dry food. She doesn't get canned, raw, or table food.
She will get treats, a few times through out the day and night..
I keep food out at all times. She just eats on and off through out the day and night.
But, she just eats a little each time. She is very healthy never been sick
thank you Lord. She is satisfied and never begs, and she is a very fit, prissey, and rotten
little lady. She is 4 yrs. old now. So, I think whatever you feed your cats and it's good food
and they are healthy, you should feed your cat according to their desire, not because
someone else is feeding this or that. That's my 2 cents.

Kittens eat A LOT more!! Something like double what an adult will eat - so it will seem like they are eating you out of house and home. I was giving Figs about 8 oz (1 cup) of raw per day, but have been trying to cut back to about 6 oz since she was spayed and getting closer to a year old. I would say that three 3 oz cans a day would be ok, as long as he doesn't suddenly gain weight. What does the feeding instructions say on the can?

I don't feed him canned, he eats a raw diet. I was also told by my vet and workers at the pet store I go to that the instructions on the bags and cans are not accurate and should not be followed. I'm sure I'm feeding enough, he just wants more. He was neutered Sept. 7 I've upped his portion another 2 oz so he is getting 7 oz a day plus more on the days he gets his chicken necks or freeze dried treats.

Elvis eats two, 3 ounce cans of wet good per day- one in the am, and one at night.
I know Sandy, DrSpock feeds her two kits 15oz of raw a day between the two of them!!

:Woo::Woo: and sometimes even more... up to 9oz ea/day! They're going to eat me out of my home!:LOL: I feed small meals (2oz rabbit, chicken, gizzard & heart) 4 to 5 times/day... At about 9 months I should be able to cut back (I hope??)

My Vet told me to feed him between 250-275 calories a day, so thats what Ive been doing. I haven't switched him over to raw, but I may be able to afford to soon since I just got a new job.

Lucifer gets 50 grams dry and 75 grams of wet per day. This works for him, but every cat is different and so is the type of food. Some days he'll finish his dry very quickly and he'll beg for more and other days it'll last most of the day. The wet is always gone in a few minutes

I am not trying to be rude at all, but I want to mention about grazing and cats. I have done so much research, aboutcat nutrition and health as it is my full time job, and all my research shows cats grazing on food all day is really bad.
Cats are not cows, cats are like lions and lions hunt, gorge than rest, they aren't constantly eating all day. So when a cat is constantly grazing, then their systems and organs never have a chance to rest. Kitties might look so healthy but than you will see later on in life, your kitty will develop organs failures.
Another thing that can happen, is bloat, bloat can be deadly.
Here are two websites that show about free feeding cats
Free Feeding Cats
Free Feeding Food? Cats Are Not Cows!
The feline nutrition website is amazing.

If your budget will allow try to get a better quality food than fancy feast. Next time you're at your local pet store read the labels for all the various types of catfood. I was feeding my cats Nutro (approx. .82 cents per can) but have switched to Natural Balance because the cans are a bit larger (6oz. compared to 5.5oz.) and the ingredients are a bit better. It's expensive, though, at $33 a case. If you can't afford the expensive stuff try switching to Purina One or Pro-Plan. Purina one has a dry food especially made for urinary health. They also have a wet food for indoor cats.

I give him the Purina Pro plan dry already. Fancy Feast had the highest amount of protein in it, compared to the other ones. Yoda is still only 4.5 months old, so I didn't switch to the larger cans yet because of that reason. Im feeding him the same stuff the breeder was feeding him. Ill check out the other brands when I go to the store and see what they say.
