How often for 8 month old?

Ive read many similar threads but nothing that answers my specific questions.

I have an 8 month old sphynx. I'm switching her over to premade raw and then bitr. My schedule is always different because of work and the kids. Would it be ok to feed her just twice a day? I am always home mornings as late as 8am and evenings by 9pm. Anything in between will be at random times. Or should I just feed her 3 times a day when ever I am home? How important is a set schedule? How about feeding raw twice a day and leaving kibble down just in case she gets hungry? I would feed natures variety instinct if I were to feed kibble. Sorry for all the questions. I need to make sure I do this right.

I'd say more then 2 day specially as you out the house for 12 hours kittens tend to eat more as they growing as well

I wouldn't really feed kibble with raw. If they eat it soon after I have read it can cause digestive problems and sometimes kibble's 'addictiveness' causes them to be fussy with eating raw (eg. they snub the raw and wait for the kibble) plus in my opinion the ingredients in kibble aren't as good as the raw you will be feeding.

I would say twice a day is fine but 3x is even better especially with a younger kitten. I feed our cats raw at 8am, 5-7pm, 10pm. The time in the middle always varies on when I get home from work but that doesn't seem to be a problem

Maybe you can do morning, night and one time in the middle whenever you are at home. If you won't be home in the middle, maybe feed more for breakfast.

You could look into those chilled bowls that serve food on a timer but I'm not sure if they would last long enough with the ice to keep the raw at a safe temperature. Worth looking into though.

I would agree on the no kibble with raw thing. Even a little amount can upset a delicate tummy. Nigel ate some of his brothers kibble yesterday morning and had poo troubles all day long lasting until this morning.

It was dog kibble, but he got sick sick sick from it since he had just eaten a big bowl of his own food.

I have had 2 kittens on raw, and they ate 4x a day. Ideally I would try and feed them 3x a day. Having a schedule would be nice, but I would just try and feed them when you can. You will know in a week if it is working or not.

If you have frozen raw, you could put it in a timer feeder to pop open in between the two outset feeding times. Pop the frozen in before you leave and it should be thawed about 3-5 hours later -- but test the thawing time first. Thawing times change based on composition.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to do 3 raw feeding a day. The first and last will be at set times and the middle feeding will have to be at different times. I'm going to look into the automatic feeder also. I didn't even think of putting frozen food in it and letting it that out. That's a great idea!

My guy is 8 months old and I find 3 x a day with raw seems to be the magic number. If we are home he is insistent on a certain time but if we are out he does survive. We feed 6:30 am. 3-4:30 pm and around 8:30 pm. Find what works for you. Im sure if the middle feeding varies in time she will be fine, but I would think 12 hours is a long time to go during the day between feelings for a raw fed kitty. It's worth the extra bother to feed raw for us as it eliminated Oliver's digestive issues.
