How Often Is Everyone Bathing Their Cats?

I have to wash my little guy about twice a week. I clean his ears out about every three days. Just like all the other comments on here..my house is not very dirty, but boy does he get dirty!!! It doesn't really help that he has taken to playing in the littler box...not sure what the fascination is with the litter, but he thinks it's fun. Also whoever told me Sphynx's love water...well Kreacher thinks differently lol.

I thought I'd throw my two cents in. I used to bathe ButterBall once a week. A day later he is dirty again. I think ButterBall has a dirty cap. He reaches a point where he just doesn't get dirty anymore. Anyway, he's got real dry skin and bathing leaves it's mark on me. My back looks like chicken scrath. Needless to say, ButterBall gets a bath about once every 3 to 4 weeks. Each sphynx is different and this is what seems to work best for ButterBall.

When Lex was a kitten, he used to get pretty grungy after about 3-4 days, but this let up after he was about two or so years old. Now he only gets a bath every week to week and a half, and his claws and ears don't get as dirty as they used to.

Caesar and Ruby, who are siblings, are pretty different in this regard. Ruby doesn't get nearly as dirty or smelly, and has only a small amount of dirt on her claws and ears. Caesar, on the other hand, is a disgusting little creature! I feel like he needs a bath every 3 days. Now that extremely humid Japanese summer is upon us, I can most definitely see that they are both getting dirtier faster. I bathe them both once every 5-7 days and generally wipe down at least their eyes, face, and neck every 1-2 days.

I am crossing my fingers that they "cap off" when they get older like Lex did, just like ElGatoLoco said.

I was told by the breeder to bath Diva weekly, which I have been doing, but honestly, she could probably go a bit longer. She doesn't seem very greasy/dirty within that time, but I think because I keep changing the blanket on her bed every day or two that must make a difference as it's usually FILTHY! lol

For her ears, I've been using Ark Naturals Ears All Right which seems to be working ok, although I have nothing to compare it to as it's the first thing I've tried. Her ears don't seem to get too dirty at all really. She's not too thrilled about the whole bathing/ear cleaning, nail clippin' process but we get through it ok. lol

That Cat Genie is wild! Diva is INSANE with the mess she likes with the litter. I got just the clay litter for her, as that's what she used with the breeder which I am HATING! It is SO dusty, which I can't imagine can be good for them, or my daughter with her having CF. Everything in the room where the litter is, gets covered in dust daily so I'm constantly sweeping and dusting in there. I was using the SweetScoop for my other cat which I'm transitioning Diva over, too which she's doing fine with. I had good luck with the Silica litters as far as keeping the uring smell down but I kinda wanted something more ''green'' and I like that the SweetScoop is flushable. I'm not finding Diva gets dirty with the litter so much as Diva makes a bloody MESS with the litter! lol There's little grey foot prints everywhere and all my furniture is black so it is pretty obvious! lol

Stella's bath time is Wednesday as well. Does anyone else enjoy the smell of the Epi-Optic? Hehe. . .If only Stella would enjoy her ear cleaning as much as I enjoy the smell of it. At this time, she resembles a nanny goat with her ears down.

hehe...I think you might be the only one! I gave Walter a thorough ear cleaning yesterday. I've mentioned before that he always follows me into the bathroom...well, the bathroom still smells like the ear cleaner and now he will NOT go in there. He starts to follow me in, catches a whiff and puts on the brakes!

I think I've flushed too many badly infected ears with Epi-otic to really enjoy the smell anymore.

We use Keto8 because it's antifungal and antibacterial. I haven't had near the ear problems with my kiddos since beginning with this flush and stopped using the Oti-clens. It's also thicker and doesn't stink (or burn Jason's skin, which wasn't good...because you know the cats are going to shake their heads).

That stuff has A double smell its starts good but then is real yucky I love it though works great and both of mine love ear cleaning time Leo pushes his ear to my hand so I get his ears very clean, Bath day is Sunday and the ear part is the only part he likes!

I bathe Scrotie once a week. Not only because his neck rolls get filthy but also to keep him aclimated with the process...he dosent like it but seems to be a lot better when im in there with him! He recently got fleas, can you believe it! I said its like a bald man having lice but whatever. The vet said they like the warmth of his body. So we had ourselfs a bath in Dawn dishsoap last night! ~ The things we do for love!

I bathe Lexi once a week and that includes ears and nails. She's good and usually purrs throughout the entire process. I was bathing her twice a week but noticed she actually got more oily so I knocked it down to once. I try to keep clothes on her, which is easier now that it's getting cooler, she stays cleaner longer that way.

I bathe Snuffie about once every 2 weeks. And SoBe gets a bath weekly right now until she can stand a bath without screaming. lol Poor cat kid thinks your killing her still. Atleast she is small and easy to handle tho.
Snuffie doesn't show dirt very well due to her dark color but it defintley comes off in her clothes!! Dawn dishsoap works wonder for Sphynx pit and neck stains!
SoBe shows dirty very easily since her neck and underside are almost white - she is pretty good about cleaning herself (unlike Snuffie) so I don't torture her wipes unless I'm cleaning her butt or nails.
