As many of you know, we live in the Sonoran Desert that encompasses most of Southern Nevada, Arizona and some of Southern California. It hasn't been that cold here this winter, but today was about 50 degrees and felt really chilly. As a result, Cleopatra is wearing her 49ers fleece shirt and she has been really aggressive about making us sit with her and a shawl or blanket on our laps all day. She is soooo needy of our laps, that this is how I started my dinner tonight. Cleo did get down when she realized that there was no food coming her way, but now that dinner is over, she's right back on my lap again!

BTW--Cleo doesn't get people food because she has a life-threatening allergy to dairy products. And, we're fortunate that she isn't very aggressive about people food, either.

Lol. Sounds I'm very glad Cleo was polite about her dinner manners! At least when she is in your lap, she is not knocking down dishes?

Fluffy and I had a compromise last night, I let her eat the taco meat she stole out of my taco and off of my plate, as long as she ate it off of a napkin and not the duvet cover as taco meat would stain. So...I let her steal it and then placed a napkin under her...I thought that was fair. So...she, too is continuing to work on get badge. Also, it got my mom if my back "Oh, at least you ate the meat out of that taco?"...,"Yep".

P.s. I am soooo glad to see you still have your Christmas pictures up, as my family decided since it was February my Christmas decorations had to come down and they took them down this weekend "for" me. I use that term loosely.

Hi Jen! First, I just have to get this out: You let Fluffy eat your taco meat when you so desperately need the calories?!? Ahhhh, thanks! I think that I'm around your mom's age, and I just had to channel my "mom nagging gene" (as my son calls it) for a minute. :shy:But it's good that you're training Fluff to use a napkin like a lady. And I do understand about fending off the mom nagging. I got enough of that from my mother-in-law over ANY health problem (real or perceived) for many years!

The mantle belongs to Cleo, and it mostly has stuff that she can knock down and not break. And we like her Santa pictures so much that they stay up year-round. I'm sorry that yours all got put away....:banghead: That is frustrating.

What great table manners Cleo! So nice of you to let your mommy enjoy her meal. Pinky & Yoda have no interest in people food. Chloe is another story,she eats everything and anything.

50s would be nice! We are freezing over here in NY. The kitties enjoy their blankets, shirts and always prefer a lap or a radiator ;)

Also it is surprising how many food items have milk in them!!! I worked in child care had a kid with a severe milk allergy. Snacks were a challenge..... At least she isn't a foodie!!! Mine wouldn't like having and allergy, they LOVE to help themselves ;)

Actually- I've had a milk allergy since I was a small child (not lactose, but milk protein). I will agree it is hard to find food items if you do not know what is in them. However if you are raised not eating them it isn't too bad (but ask Patti, who has tried to feed me for a weekend, what surprisingly has milk in it- meat, WTH?).

That being said, I raised Moses from a kitten, so he never ate milk or beef products (I also do not eat beef). Once, I had a friend over and she was eating food from a fast food restaurant I had boycotted since they fried their food in beef lard. She was eating a beef burger, and chicken nuggets. The nuggets were fried in beef lard. Moses lovvvesss chicken nuggets (chickie nuggets we called them). So she said "can I give him a piece of my chicken?" And I said "He won't eat it, it is fried in beef lard". So she huffed at me and said, he won't know any better, he's a cat! So she called him over and said "Moses, want a chickie nugget?", he got excited and ran over, immediately sniffed it and put his nose up at it, and did that cat thing where they open their mouths and sniff something horrible. He walked away and left it in her hand! He walked over to me and put his paw on my hand asking for what I had to eat- a bagel and soy cream cheese (Totally dairy free).

When I brought Fluffy home not long after that, it had been clear she had been introduced to all types of food (beef and milk too) and would eat things like ice cream or milk shakes my mom or people would bring into the house. She loves whipped cream and chip dip, but Moses to this day will not touch ice cream or milk products, even if offered, he was just conditioned as a baby not to eat them. I buy Fluffy a little bitty smudge of frozen yogurt at the ice cream place up the road every so often, and the lady looks at me strangely, as it costs me all of $.40, lol. I usually do tell her it's for my cat. No sense in ME buy a whole carton for Fluffy!

I have met cats with food preference but I've never owned on LOL it would be nice!!!! My daughter has a lactose issue so we give her both soy and whole milk to balance her out. The kitties will go after her milk bottle but not the soy ones though.

I agree if you are aware of the allergy and read labels it's not so hard. Since having that kid in class I am much more aware of what is in our food!

At least she doesn't walk on the kitchen table while you are eating like some of mine do! I wouldn't mind as much if it was my lap. LOL

Cleo, you are looking very comfy on Mommy's lap...did Daddio let you sit on his lap too? It is very cold here and my babies NEED extra lap time too!

Lol... My kitties are all beggars unfortunately bottomless pits, I don't think their ever full!

Glad Cleo has manners. I don't think there is anything they won't eat. My one girl always waits for me to finish my cereal I leave her a tsp of my almond milk and she "thinks" she is getting away with something ;) LOL. It makes her happy.

Funny thing I buy a certain wet food and it comes in a variety of flavors and I have noticed my kitties don't seem to like the beef flavor, Sincere is a pig and he actually on more than one occassion did not eat it. It's fresh in my mind because I just offered him that on Tuesday and he rejected it. Maybe he knows better?
