How vocal is your cat?

I'm interested to hear how often your cat meows? One of my girls is very vocal. She meows a lot. She is very healthy and eats well and bowel and urine movements are good. Her father was very vocal.

I'm wondering who else has a very vocal cat.

Ross is the silence type of man. He's only vocal if he really has something to say.

The first two months I wondered if Toa could make a sound at all...He never meows! A few weeks ago I heard his first sounds...the clapping with th mouth sound when he saw a bird sitting in the garden.

Maybe it's a typical male-female thing....girls are vocal and the boys just pretend to listen

Riley is very vocal late if his awake he talks lol tau is vocal to but I think Riley out talks him these days lol

Phiona is very local. Samara only when it's time to eat. Then it's the pitiful sounding meowing that'll make you feel very guilty and sorry for her, even when there is no reason to lol. It's her super power

Our Azura is the talkative one. She will talk to me and answer back. I love it.

Skully and I use to talk back and forth all day.

Elfie yells at me! She thinks I do everything wrong and it's her job to correct me!!

When I first brought Max home he was VERY quiet. I was a bit saddened, truth be told, as I'd heard how chatty Sphynx were. Well... given enough time he started being vocal.

Now he's VERY VERY vocal about everything. We talk while I make his food. He screams out when he has gone number 2 and wants litter scooped. He chatters at the wildlife outside. He cusses out his toys sometimes. And then there's the pitiful meow during spa nights some times (not always). He calls out in Marco Polo fashion when he's too lazy to look for us and just wants a voice to home in on. And then there's just general chatting.

So yes, he talks a lot!!! And I love it.

Cleopatra fusses, yells, growls, cusses, talks. speaks with the birds, snores, hisses, screams and is generally more vocal than any cat we have ever owned--including the Siamese breeding pair when the queen was in heat! Marcus is pretty quiet. He has a piteous meow when he can't find us or wants food. When he's outside or on the wrong side of a door, he does what we call "generating sound." He will open his mouth as if to meow, and pretty soon an amazingly loud meow will erupt from him.

All five of mine "talk" to me. I always answer them. Sometimes they are just looking around the house for me, so I call out to them (I know each one's voice, so I call them by name) and say things like, "Simon, Mommy is here at the computer!" ... and he will come running over to sit on my lap and suck on my arm! LOL

My one female (Miss Violet) is very vocal. Always telling me a story. She's only vocal when she see's me, not just walking around the house when she doesn't see me.

Liam (my first born), talks to me, BUT he will cry for me when he doesn't see me. As a matter of fact, he can see me from the family room through glass doors where I sit and have a cigarette in my four seasons room. I don't allow any of my cats in there for two reasons: 1) I don't smoke in the house and don't want them near the smoke. 2) I don't want them in that room because then they would accidentally get out into the yard and I'd drop dead of a massive heart attack or kill myself if I survived one leaving!

Grayson talks to me alot. He will talk to me during the night even! LOL If he wakes up, he loudly calls out my name, "MAAA?" I hear him, wake up and ALWAYS say, "What, Sweetheart?" He comes running to me to cuddle and love on me.

Simon mostly just talks to me when he sees me, but it's not a constant chat like Miss Violet does. She's full of gossip and has a lot of information to share whether it's about her four brothers or the Roomba! LOL

Alastair has a very weird meow. He always sounds like something is wrong, but it's not. When I have company over and they hear him call me, they get alarmed that he is either being attacked by the others or that he is sick. That's just my Alastair. He has a long, drawn out meow in a very different pitch than the others.

I know each of their voices and in my bed, in the dark, I know which one I'm touching. They all feel different...not necessarily their coats or lack of it, but also the amont of fat or bones! I have two fatties, one that's just right, one that is thin and one that is very, very lean.

So he sees me sitting in the four seasons room and he will carry on like a lunatic for me to come in and pick him up and give him hugs and kisses. IF I don't, he will NOT stop calling me in the loudest voice he can project. It doesn't matter if I'm out there for five minutes or for five hours, IF he wants me, he will NOT give up calling me to come in until I do!

Phoebe is vocal when she is not in deep meditation
She actually has learned to form her meows into simple words..just a few, but we are working on more words. Here's her small list of english words:

"Hello, Mom "- usually when I get out of bed or I let her in the house from the backyard.

" Nooooo"- when my 2 year old is loving on her and she is still in deep meditation.

"Help"- when she wants more food in her bowl, or her water isn't warm enough in her bath.

It's funny how she can phrase them differently too...for example, if she is looking for me in the house, she'll say "Hello,Mom??" in question form and with a worried tone to her voice...if she is greeting me in the morning, it's a simple chipper greeting!!

My boy is very noisy usually in the evening! He shouts when I leave the room to go upstairs. And his most annoying habbit ... is that he meows when I am on the phone! He is perfectly quiet and then the second he sees I'm on the phone and it's "MEOW MEOW MEOW!!!" Surprisingly enough though he is very quiet at bedtime and over night and it's always my Bengal girl who wakes me up with her meows in the morning!

Elvira talks, cusses, yells, grumps, makes Mrrrrps when she's on her back looking for spankings, sings the song of her people, cusses more when she's subjected to the indignity of a b-a-t-h...if she's awake, she's making some kind of noises.
Morticia only makes sounds if:
you startle her.
If you've been out of her sight for any length of time and she's happy to see you.

Mine both talk to me too. They answer question and you can tell they have different answers. When I get home, or if my family comes we always ask them if they have been good boys and girls, sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it is a no, lol.

Moses chats with you about his day- he brings you to a rug in front of our fire place and chats. Fluffy sounds like a sick goat when she meows and goes "blaaattt". Or opens her mouth and nothing comes out, she appears to have a broken meowe4. But she's awfully cute, so we just go with the flow,

Hi there. I have a new baby girl, Rosie, a Bengal, a calico and a b&w shorthair. My calico is the noisy one, talking all the time, screaming at us when she's hungry, which is pretty apmuch all day long.
Our new sphynx baby is only young and all she musters up at the moment is a cute little miaow when she can't see us or her feet are getting cold, but she also has the sweetest little assortment of squeaks and chuffs, usually reserved for when our young Bengal Poppy is giving her a good licking. She's also quite squeaky when you uncover her tiny body to fish out from under the blankets for a cuddle and she's squeaking her little head off as she showers your lips and cheeks with rubs and kisses!
