Hyper and not listening...

My cats are almost 7 months(girl) and my boy is almost 6 months. They are quite hyper at times which I know is normal and I'm okay with it but lately they are not listening or minding me. I do not really punish them in any way bc I know some of it is curiosity and I really don't want them to fear me. So what kind of tips or advice can you all give? Do they go thru growth spurts that causes more mischief? I try to rearrange their toys and things so it doesnt get boring and I also set aside time for play every day..

Stay consistent. If you need them to focus (like when I hear the girls acting like elephants tearing the house up) I will yell yum yums (treats) and they stop everything and come running. Then things seem to naturally calm down and they are focused. They do not associate hard playing with treats thank goodness, but they love yum yums and shifts their maniacal behavior to the better.

I love that Yum Yums..lol. I say treats but maybe I will use yum yums. I know that it takes some redirection so that sounds good.What treats do you use? I have some pill pockets left over from their meds.I also have lysine. Thanks for your response!!

I switch it up. I am currently using grain free treats. You know your babies the best. I had to giggle after reading your comments. Yum yums have been a staple here for 17+ years...lol...it just sounds better yelling it than treats I guess. I even have yum yums on the cat sitters sheets on words/commands they know...lol.

Lol I love it! I am going to steal that one from you! I use grain free cat food so maybe I should try grain free treats?? If you have any suggestions I will try it! Thanks again!!

Frida like freeze dry shrimps. They are great because you can buy them at target for about $4 but they have only 1 ingredient

They do seem to go thru stages where they are naughtier than usual. My cats never listen to me. Lol

They are still young -they will get better and "lazier" as time goes by.

I love this stage where they play and act silly.I hope it never ends!! Just not the super naughty part lol
