I had an epiphany

This is one of those slap your forehead that was so obvious why didn't I think of it before kind of situations. As I was in the bathroom sweeping up litter for the millionth time it occurred to me. The reason there is so much litter on the floor is they shoot out of the cat box like they're coming out of a cannon. In the bathroom the box is against a wall on the left, against a wall behind it and the shower stall on the left of it. Straight shot to the bathroom door and a perfect run way. So I thought to myself why not turn the box 180 degrees so the entrance to the box is facing the back wall and pull it away about 6-8 inches. Just enough room to comfortably get in and out of the box but not enough to launch themselves. Ta da!! A lot less litter on the floor. I did the same for the other cat boxes too. Turned them to the side or 180 whichever so the door isn't facing straight out and giving them a run way :Laugh: more litter stays in the box and less on the floor. And since they have to step out slowly they actually make contact with the litter mat too. Before they would sail right over it! Thought I'd share with everyone

I use hardwood pellets they absorb the urine and the pellets turn to saw dust. The pellets are large enough that they don't spread much and what does come out of the box I just toss back in

Cleaning the box is a bit different though

It's made a difference for me! Hardly any litter tracked outside the box. A bit on the mat but that I just dump back in the box when I scoop.
