I lost my best friend last month. I took him into the vet for what I thought was a cold and things just escalated very quickly. I had the vet try even though he said it probably wouldn't help, and it didn't. It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I made him a little coffin and buried him today. I still keep thinking I see him out of the corner of my eye every now and then. Since he passed, I've lost a grandmother, Powder (originally my sister and I's dog but, my parents kept him) and Oliver, who I don't know what happened to, my dad found him under the porch yesterday. He looked like he had just curled up and gone to sleep. This is the main reason I just buried John today. The vet kept him for me until I was ready. So, last night, I went through all the grieving again as I prepared him. I made a little canvas of his paw prints, put on the little necktie I had bought him but never put on him and wrapped him in a blanket. He just looked like he was taking a nap. I think that put me at ease. He looked at peace. So, farewell my friend, I miss you every day. I'll see you again someday and in the meantime, you can keep Ma Ma Mary warm.
