In memory of Susi

I received an email this morning saying a dear friend/first moderator of this community passed at 4:30 am today. A few of you have been blessed to remember Susi. She was the first moderator of SL chosen by @admin to help educate and spread the love of this amazing breed to others. I take pride in that she was my mentor who helped me learn how to maneuver around this forum and give support to those in need. Hubby and I had Susi visit us 2 summer vacations and we hosted the very first Sphynxlair meet and greet where she finally got to meet Tom and Heather the admins of Sphynxlair at our home. I hold the best memories closest to my heart and will always remember her love of life, her love of the breed and as she would say…that is everything. RIP Susi

I'm really sorry to read this. Susi used to post regularly when I first joined. In fact, she was one of those people that when they DIDN'T post you noticed. The Sphynx breed has lost a great ambassador. Heaven just became a bit more cat-friendly especially for naked cats. RIP.

I just saw this on her Facebook and needed to come here to mourn. Susi was the first person to help me when I rescued Spencer 11 years ago. She answered so many questions and became a great friend. I visited her twice and stayed with her and her cats and she visited my home and met my boy a few years later. I was blessed to have one of her kittens and she shared in my sorrow when I lost Leia at 8 years old. This Sphynx community and the Sphynx community as a whole will not be the same without her. I only hope that all of the cats she’s touched were there to meet her when she passed

The world is an emptier place today with Susi gone. Everyone on the Lair longer than four or five years ago, can remember how much fun Susi was here. She often coordinated our Secret Santa gift exchanges in December, and the Christmas in July exchanges in the summers. One year, she contacted my husband, Robert, and asked him to paint portraits of her Sphynxes, and one of her long-suffering beagle. I believe he did 12 or 13 portraits all together, and she was so happy to be surrounded by the pictures of the animals she loved so much. She and I were both public school teachers, and often exchanged teaching stories. Susi was always ready to help members who had kittens that were sick and she always had great advice.

One year, Susi was my Secret Santa. my Cleopatra was about 3 years old, and had gotten the nickname, Scorpion Queen. Cleo could hunt down any scorpion that invaded our house, and Susi knew I was making jacket harnesses for Cleo at the time. So she found a wonderful scorpion appliqué. Here’s the dress harness I made with Susi’s appliqué.

Susi, Robert and I will miss you. Rest In Peace.

I am so very sad to learn the news. Heartbreaking. she was a true warrior with the biggest kindest heart. Susi gave her heart and soul to help all of us. Her Glop recipe is legendary here. my heartfelt condolence to all the hearts she touched forever and ever. .

She was my youngest human child’s birthday twin. The only thing I ever felt more than genuine laughter in having Susi talks, was the love.
Susi was nothing but love. And she was generous with her love as she was generous with her knowledge of raising Sphynx. The world is a little less sparkly right now.

I just heard via FB from Nofuratu's mom that Susi had passed away. I have not been around much the past number of years, but I remember Susi well and fondly. She was one of the first to make me feel so welcome here and she along with others was a wealth of knowledge. For me and many of the members she was one of the things that made this group so special and fun. As others have said, she was responsible for gift exchanges and you would notice if she hadn't posted or at least commented on someone else's post.

Even though I do not come here very often these days, I am saddened that when I do come I will not find her here when I do come on. I will leave this familiar phrase to honour Susi. "Susi was loved and that is everything."

Julie we sure did have a lot of fun with our precious Susi. She had the amazing gift of making you feel loved even through the Internet & had the ability to make you laugh til the tears flowed.
