This lil girl is coming home on Dec 18th and that is WAY too far away. I recently have been going through some rough things and the first time I saw her over facetime, she healed half my heart. She's the most precious little thing! Her breeder is also amazing and been such a great person through all of my 9 billion questions and comments and requests. I'm absolutely smitten with this kitten. It's been worth the years of waiting and researching!

Will keep this updated as I get more info and pictures. I have some from when she was even smaller but these two were from today!

@Jellybean Thank you! I really am. She's so precious and I really appreciate all the photos I keep getting sent. I plan on making a scrap book haha.

@Natalie Murphy Ooooh I really should! That's a great idea! I also have some spare yarn that I'm going to use to make some throw blankets!

@Catzzzmeow I'm sure I'm going to have lots of them. I"ve been here on the forums for a bit but I tend to be pretty quiet! It does seem like forever and a day though.

I'm just starting to learn so first is some blankets! I figured they'd be easiest! Then maybe some of those cozy sweaters since it does get cold up here in the mountains. She is the cutest little thing. Her meow is so tiny!!! Linda has been amazing so far. Especially since she found out I'm wanting to make a scrap book of Emily Mae hahahaha. I don't have kids so I might as well go cat crazy right?

My gotcha day is December 18th! It's forever away!

@fern , scrap book great idea! and cant wait to see your sweaters and blankies. I had to opt for no sweaters as one of mine got a nail stuck on sweater and nearly fell from a high place. so now go Nakid lol with lots of 50x60 in fleece throw blankets I get at marshalls, ross stores.

Emily Mae is a beautiful name. I just want to kiss her adorable face.. those eyes... melt my heart.

we want lots of pics... I have no kids either.. att rep told me I had more photos on my phone (all cats and pups and nature) than a high school student.

keep us updated often!

tick tock, counting down Dec 18th with you! I know that pitter patter of the heart.

Haha, so far I've got about 2" of a lap sized blanket done, maybe 3" now. I figured something we could both cuddle up in would be good! I'm crocheting this one since I am better with that and the yarn is really thin! I have a big soft fleece baby blanket material for the yarn! Supposedly the thicker yarn is easier for beginners. :) I will post pictures once I'm done!

I really like how this is turning out so far! The yarn is too thin for my knitting so I went back to crocheting. It is keeping me busy. I have been reading up on things and next week I am going to start on a list of things to get. I am also going to be moving just before she gets here! I have a lot going on ^_^

@fern , wow beautiful! so much talent! love the colors. my mom crochets but never taught me .
great idea making a list! be sure to kitty proof home new home for life.. cords, blinds, plants etc. several threads on kitty proofing. also if there are any floor vents ..some pups and kitties have gotten their collars etc stuck on . when I had a home with those type of vents I let them go without collars and made sure microchip info up to date.

they are busy buddies into everything! especially hot stove tops, oven heat, toasters, dryers washers always check, triple check before turning on.
I trained mine to a meet n greet spot as to try to avoid out the door dashing. when I go in and out doors to this day I open slowly looking down to make sure no kitties trying to bolt, the are sooo fast. have to watch walking around house as they are lightening fast under feet and have tripped a few times.

lots going on... so excited for you and Emily Mae! counting down gotcha day with you!

Yes! I'm going to look into getting some ephermera based around Egypt since there will be some fun themed things in it (my friend who sells scrapbooking kits has one) for the kitten scrapbook haha. As far as the housing goes, it'll be nice that I'm moving INTO a new environment that I can kitten proof as best as I can from the get go! I need to keep all those things in mind.

When you say a meet and greet spot, how did you go about that? I would love to hear more. My furry girl, Luna, has very little interest in the outside world other than the occasional snoop at the back porch, and is very cautious about it. We will take her out with us occasionally but she's not very exploratory and doesn't dash out the door thankfully.

With clothing it's never going to be something when I'm not around, same for harnesses or any sort of decorative collar. Those are for pictures or coziness while I'm at home only. Even then it's got to be something that is velcro/rip away (and even then there's danger) for clothing & collars.

I'm so excited!!

@Toa and Ross Every time I get an update my heart melts!!

@nudebea Thank you! She is just so precious. I get to facetime with her pretty often and her temperament is so gentle!

@fern , melt my heart! soo glad you get pics and facetime with your baby!

I trained mine like a dog to meet n greet spot. a chair away from door.

I got a bag of high value treats. I would stand inside by the door and slowly turn the door knob. I gave a command, put a couple of treats on the chair and use whatever command you choose like "wait" place, etc.

I would slowly open door just enough to unlatch it and repeat a command, treat on the chair.

when I left the house, I would give command and treat on chair.

when I came home, I would slooowly open the door and keep my foot at the bottom to shoo back kitty gently as I came in.
immediate command and treat on the chair.
they are sooo smart and caught on quickly..
I of course always forever open doors slowly and look /foot at bottom before coming in . they are right there waiting for their treat. I do the treats randomly to this day for positive reinforcement.. as they are super stealth.

sooo excited for you and lovin the pics and updates!

I will absolutely start this asap. I have a friend visiting too so this will help. We can both practice it so she gets used to it with not just me! Thank you for the detailed explination! I'm sooooooooo excited. It still seems forever away but it's so soon at the same time. I need to start getting things together before long. Or at least make a list of things to get once I get my apartment. Like I mentioned before. I want to cat-proof as I move things in too!
