Holy talking birds Batman! You have an African Grey Parrot? That's the mother of all talking birds. Does birdy talk to Johnny? Does birdy say "here kitty kitty kitty"? And then bite Johnny on the nose? Does birdy drop F bombs out of the blue?

A few questions about an African Grey Parrot. How long do they live? Where do you purchase such a creature? Are they hard to care for? And are they expensive?

I love watching them on youtube.

YouTube - Very Talkative Parrot and Cat

They can live up up to 60-80 years so they live forever. They dont all talk. Darby is a rescue and I was told that she used to have a vocabluary of over 200 hundred words but I have never seen it. All she does is scream most of the time :Dizzy: Whats funny though is that she just comes out with full random sentenaces so I know she has it in her. She just wont do what I want her to do. Go figure.

Johnny and her have meowing conversations but thats it. I dont let Johnny get too close to her because I know what that beak can do and its not pretty :Surprise::Surprise:

Yes they are very expensive and very high maintenance. Its like having a 5 year old for your whole life and you they will most of the time live longer than you do. I baby can cost you $1500 but you can find good deals on craigslist pretty often.

Darby didnt do well with the breakup and move so I am struggling a bit with her now. She is like an out of control 5 year old. Its pretty annoying sometimes. Especially when she screams and before I can yell at her she will yell "SHUT UP"!

They are fun but some can be a huge hand full (like Darby!)

 So you are saying an African Grey is like having an out of control 5 year old that unexpectedly makes farting noises and spews random sentences for 60 - 80 years? My hat is off to you then....my kids all out grew that phase relatively quickly.

I wish anything made me half as happy as that blankie makes johnny

Maybe you just need a softer blankie for yourself, Qwerty's Mama. I love your signature line, by the way. It reminds me of a book called "No, No Jo" that my kids loved to read when they were little. The cat on the book's cover wasn't technically a Sphynx, but he had big ears and a long tail and looked a lot like our boy Tanker.

Oh give that blanket a good massage! There is nothing like a nice soft blanket!

I have a video on my phone of Mo massaging his favourite blanket with 'I wana know what love is' playing on the radio in the background!
