So where to began... so I have quite a few medical issues going on in my life including going to see an OBGYN every 3 months for possible cancer on my cervix. Now that I have moved out of state from Louisiana to Illinois the first thing I wanted to get done was my OBGYN which wont continue to see me until I go see the other specialist that will give my new OBGYN an understanding of whats going on in my body, and she never got my records from my old OBGYN. Now I'm calling the other specialist for my other issues so they can check me out and send a letter to my new OBGYN and that she can come up with better treatment plans and they wont see me because I need to get my records from the doctors that diagnosed me 4 and a half years ago that treated my like shit and the office gave me the run around and NEVER GOT TREATMENT from them. But I should get new scans and blood work done anyway because its been so long. So I asked if they could recommend me to an office or give me a phone # that could take care of that and they told me I had to find someone myself... I wanted to scream at the receptionist "I JUST TOLD YOU I MOVED FROM OUT OF STATE I DON'T KNOW WHO OR WHERE TO GO TO GET THIS STUFF DONE! but she quickly hung up. I just want to scream at the top of my lungs and cry! looks like I'm going to crawl in bed with Izzy for a while and snuggle and cry.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this. Sounds like you're having a tough time. I don't really understand how the medical system works where you are- here in the uk, the hospital just writes to the old place to get your records. Sounds like you need to speak to a different receptionist at the hospital ?

problem is that all the stuff that the old office has is from 4 years ago. I need all new blood work and labs done and they don't do it (which is bull because the first thing they are going to do is send me is to have labs done. this isn't my first rodeo) but they wont help me. i hate the medical system.

Omg i feel your pain ! I am going thru some similiar issues myself and just got notice from my reg yearly checkup that i have to get more tests done ( again ) . I do have a good reg Doc that quickly always reffers me to the next Doc ( since i had a few diff issues before ) , I am reffered to a new Gyn and am a bit worried.
Maybe you need to get a reg Doctor that you can tell your issues and he/ she can recommend someone to you , thats how mine works. Otherwise I wouldnt know what to do.

My Husband never goes to the Doc and he had some ear issues, he went online and Googled the spec doctors in the Area and checked them out on how their Reviews are ........ thats how he choose his ! ( not my cup of tea ) .

I hope you find a good doctor maybe they can start all tests new for you in Il. and get you better. Hugs !

Relax, deep breathe!!! Call your health insurance carrier. Explain that you've moved from state to state but are having a hard time obtaining the care you need. They should be able to easily pull up a specialist in your new area, preferably not the one with receptionist that gave you that attitude!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your medical difficulties. I wish I could recommend someone to you, but I'm in Milwaukee. You will need to fill out release forms in order to get your old records forwarded. I was looking on the web and found this site: http://m.healthgrades.com/internal-medicine-directory/il-illinois/lake-villa, hopefully it will be of some help to you. Otherwise maybe you could ask coworkers or someone at your church (if you have one), or even a neighbor. I'll keeping thinking about this. I hope this is of some help to you.

Aww, please don't cry. :( I feel so bad. I'm sending you GREAT BIG HUGS right now. :)
Do you have to go to this doctor or deal with this office? Maybe you can call some local good hospitals and ask the receptionist to recommend the best doctors.
Hang in there, you'll find a good doctor that has nicer receptionists I'm sure.

Robin :)

I can empathize for sure :( I had a long string of runarounds when I had a rapidly growing cyst on my ovary, had to get ultrasounds and bloodwork and MRIs then when all the results of THOSE were in (three days before my surgery!!) they indicated possible cancer and I had to go to an oncologist instead and had to wait another month and a half worrying about cancer and had to have my entire ovary removed! (No cancer fortunately, just extremely severe endo.)

I have to move out of state soon and will get to experience your frustrations first-hand :( I hope you get it worked out soon or find a new ladyparts doc who will give you referrals to good places.

Prayers are being sent your way. I also hate dealing with Drs. If there's a university close to you, maybe they can refer you to someone.

Call the American Cancer Society. They can refer you to local chapters and places that can help. Many cancer centers have support groups that can aid in helping you as well. I worked at the Brown Cancer center for many years. Stay positive and keep your stress down.

Well my new obgyn wanted me to go to a gastro doc that she knows and will send her recoreds with no problem and also takes my insurance. It's just getting into the gastro dr in the first place because I don't have lab and blood work done. So now I have to go to a new primary care doctor to go to do all the small stuff and get labs done that gastro is going to have re-done again anyway (ugh!) get with gastro and start a treatment plan with them, hope they will see me soon then I also have to see a urologist.... THEN I can go back to the obgyn. It was a headache and I was so upset. The receptionist kept saying just get my records from old doctor but they are 4 years old and that office gave me the run around so bad I refused to go back and I have lost the number... And my obgyn recordeds have been sent but yet to be received. I'm better now but looking for a primary after dealing with the Snotty Receptionest I was about to lose it on someone.

Be sure to get copies of all your records before you move. It might prevent delays should something serious arise.

I agree with calling your companies benefits center and they should have some form of Doctor locator assistance to help you get to the right place. Also, getting physical copies of all your records after this is over and keeping them will help in the future. I too learned the hard way about moving doctors. In 2011 my company stopped using the doctor I had been going to since 1989 and I had to figure out how to find a new doctors office for EVERYTHING (my previous doctor was a member of a large network) UGH...sooo frustrating. I now have a PDF of all my records in the event they decide to do this again...

Hugs to you and give Izzy lots of love and cuddles, she will give them right back to ya!

so sorry you are having to deal with this on top of your medical issues :(

I'm glad you don't feel like crying now. I'm just so sorry that you are having health issues and on top of it, tried to deal with that receptionist. I too the other day had a very difficult receptionist on the phone when I called a new doctor's office! I swear that they all just read from a script and don't listen to what you are saying or what you need! I just knew that if my daughter was on the other end listening, she would have slapped this receptionist right through the phone! Grrr!

Best of luck with your health and finding the doctors and labs you need. :) BIG HUGS to you.
Robin :)

Good job Izzy! You take care of your mum. So sorry to hear this. I have been where you are and cysts are no fun and make you go crazy with worry. Hugs. You have gotten some good advice though.
