So after trying the gastro diet by RC, she got worse :( her poo is now mucousy and bloody . She vomited today too. She went back to the vets and he has put her on metronidazole . Her temperature is 39.1 . She definitely looks skinnier

She's lost 10gms since last week. Hope she starts putting on more weight. She's also on probiotics too now

She has been on raw which seemed to be working. She is fine for a few weeks whenever we change food then suddenly builds up an intolerance. Her bum is red raw! The vet said to try arnica cream on it or they will make her wear a collar :( I researched arnica cream but it said not for broken skin. Hers is broken :(

I was hoping the new diet would do the trick. So sorry to hear that's not the case. I feel so bad for Khaleesi and you too. I hope the medication sorts this out and that she gains the weight back.

Are you keeping her on the gastro diet? Stick with it and let things calm down with the meds. Danser would vomit too when she was having an attack. Don't panic her system will calm down. I know it is hard when they don't feel good but this will pass. Hugs

Yes the vet said to keep her on the gastro food. I've stopped raw as well. So frustrating! She hates the metronidazole!! She now hates me :( so sad :(

Yes, that medication is very bitter. I got really good at pillling with it. She doesn't hate you, she just doesn't feel too hot. When she is hungry try feeding the gastro wet with a bit of pumpkin mixed in. Just a bit.

I didn't know you made a new post for your vet visit until just now. I was checking your original post that she had blood and mucous and you were taking her to the vet. I was sitting on pins and needles praying she would be fine.

Ok, the (Flagyl) Metronidazole is something that Grayson has been on MANY times for the same stomach issues. Did your vet give her IV fluids as well?

Arnica is great stuff. I've used it to prevent bruising and it's great for sore muscles, but I never heard of putting it on a butt. There must be something you can put on her butt.

Owie, don't put arnica on it!!!! thats for bruises and unbroken skin!!!! Do you guys have pawpaw cream where you live? I would use that. Anything that is for nappy rash for babies that is all natural. Or if you can't find anything, I know it might sound crazy but I would try an all natural lip balm.

I went thru this same thing with my duo. We did the metronidazole, forti flora, and changed food to science diet sensitive stomach hard food and wet, and believe it or not-we have normal poop now! No mush, no stench and no mucous.

Thankyou everyone. This morning I gave her metronidazole in 1ml of chicken gravy that I syringed in. She took it all but wasn't impressed. Her sore bottom I wiped down with plain water then coated with yellow paraffin , she doesn't mind that too much. She stopped licking it so I think it's soothing her ( she is lucky I love her - touching her poop hole was not part of the deal!) last night there was no poop from khaleesi- only the formed types from the others. I'm at work all day till 9pm so I await hubbies update!

Sometimes I have noticed that if they have had the poops they will skip one when the metronidazole is starting to work. Hopefully this is the case.

So we have mush poop instead of bloody watery mucus which is an improvement. Wonder how long this will last before poor baby has another severe episode. Oh well fingers crossed .........
