Kitten food

While my kittens are currently obsessed with the box their new food came in I thought I’d ask how much and how often are people feeding their kitties? Mine were getting wet in morning dry out all time and wet in the evenings as per their breeders instructions but they had a poorly tummy and runny poops. To combat this I put them on a boiled chicken diet and weaned them back onto wet food, they’re currently eating wainwright’s kitten chicken. I realised this is quite expensive and researched the food to give them and two I found looked good from reading here were bozita and feringa. I decided to try the feringa as it had different flavours and I didn’t want them to get bored. I was thinking whether to put them back onto dry food in the day or continue with just wet. I’m planning to move them raw once they’re a bit bigger and more developed. As they’re not getting dry I’ve been giving them four meals (pouch each meal) a day. As my holidays is ending and back to work as I can’t wfh as much I was wondering whether they will be okay eating around 0730 then again at 1630 and around 2230-2300(just bigger meals than when they’ve been having 4 little further apart) Or do you guys feed more breakfast lunch dinner times? If so I was looking at some timer meal dispensers like the one from petmate to feed them while I’m at work.
they’ve currently been eating 0730, around 1/2, 7, 11.

thanks for the advice :)

I’m more interested in the times, I don’t want to make them hungry haha. Since they eat more than normal cats. I just opened a can of this feringa and it smells really good! The kitties loved the bit I let them try too! Wonder if I need to wean onto it from the other as they’re both high chicken concentration wet?

So if I understand, you are giving them 4 meals now, and you want to give them 3 in the future, but with the same total amount of food...is that right?

If they can eat all their food in 3 servings that will be fine. The only problem is kittens have small stomachs so they usually need smaller servings. You didn't say how old your kittens are so I'm not sure what we are dealing with here. If they don't finish their entire serving, one cat could end up eating more and one less. For this reason I wouldn't leave "extra" food in their bowls when you go to work. Try to feed them when you can watch them. But give it a try with 3 servings and see how it goes. As they get older it stops being a problem.

I got my kitten at 5 months old and we feed 3 times a day plus we leave food in the bowl overnight. It comes out to right around 1 cup of dry food per day, which we rehydrate with water. If he finishes his food in one sitting, I'll add a little more because I've heard kittens should not be restricted.

That’s right! They’re around 13 weeks now.
if they don’t eat it all I put it in the fridge and give it them later, I always watch them eat or one tries to steal the others food. I want to avoid giving them dry again as I think it’s what have them a bad tummy before

That is exactly what I do with one of mine who doesn't have a big appetite; I put it in the fridge for later. He usually finishes it eventually.

Tummy troubles are notorious and it's very hard to know what exactly causes it because there are so many different ingredients in kibble. If you feed raw, try feeding just one protein at a time. Say for example you decide to feed chicken; stick with chicken for 2 months. If there is not a problem then that protein is fine and you can test another one. Good luck!

Chicken will be fine they ate tons of it when I was boiling up for them! Think I cooked more for them than me :ROFLMAO:
I’ll let them get more settled and more developed stomachs first.
I was looking at natures menu and natural instinct does anyone know if these are complete? Or do you need to supplement their meals?
or if it’s better to do mix some wet in just to make sure they’re getting everything?
Thanks :)
