Kitten trying to nurse

Hi, I have two 13 week old brothers. And one kitten is constantly trying to nurse/suckle either me or his brother. I’m concerned he’s going to make his brother very sore if this continues. The other kitten doesn’t try to do this at all.

Has anyone got any experience on this and how to stop it?I originally assumed he’d grow out of it, but concerned reading that’s not necessarily the case.

He goes into a purring sleep and even when I keep removing him he’s almost like a little zombie pushing to get back to his suckling spot.

It’s really hard to wake him out of that almost desperate trance.

Any advice from people with experience would be appreciated!

Thank you!

@Catzzzmeow and others may have some tips. I have no advice as I have never had sphynx kitten age. have you reached out to their breeder? not sure how long you have had your babies. often times they stay with mum for 16 weeks.

hugs n head smooches, love to see pics of your babies, names? all paws are family.

Ah thank you, I didn’t speak to the breeder about this yet… I’ve had them two and a half weeks.. so perhaps they were a little too young to leave mumma… I thought I really done some research on a good breeder and traveled 5 hours each way to get them. But when I arrived I did wonder whether they were potentially younger than that though as seemed teeny tiny, but all their official docs obvs say their birthdate to be that they’re now 13 weeks! ‍♀️

I would love to post pics but when I tried it wouldn’t upload. I’ll definitely try again….

They are called Cairo and Phoenix.

xx

I wouldn’t worry too much. We have had some that suckled their older cats and all out grew the behavior over time…our one girl once in a while suckles herself (she used to every day) It shouldn’t make the other sore…think of how they suckled on their Mom for days.

They are way too adorable! My boy Toa suckled in his brother and me when he was a kitten. It was impossible to stop him and his brother just let him have his way. He stopped doing it when he was around 1 year old.
I guess your other cat will walk away of yell if he has enough of the suckling. So I wouldn't worry about it.
It is something that sooth them, reminding them of drinking milk from their mommy.
