My almost 7 year old handsome boy - who has a very long struggle with an immune disease (immune mediated thrombocina) all of a sudden he is extra lethargic, has stopped purring, and stopped suckeling (he has always sucked on his own nipples - it’s a daily occurrence) For the past few days he seems extra tired. However, he eats all his food, takes his medicine, goes to the bathroom normally, drinks his water and begs for cookies. Normally when I walk in the door he comes running and is extremely vocal. The vocals have decreased and he barely picks his head up. We will go to the vet but I’m just so confused, he was a totally different cat three days ago.

Hi I hope and pray for good news for you!
I lost my baby aged 8 four weeks ago to CHF 4 hours before he died he was still eating and drinking as normal so I always want to get it out there to people that not necessarily do they stop eating and drinking. I understand it's very common but alot of people think this is the first sure sign but it's not the case atall. (Also same with litter use).
I'm sure a vet will for sure help you with this and hopefully get your baby back to himself!
Please keep updates on your beautiful baby xx

Glad you are seeing a vet. You know your baby best and can sense something is off...Happy you aren’t ignoring your gut. I’d go as soon as possible if that lethargic. Please update us, and know Lair Prayers are sent.

Definitely make sure they check his skin turgor too. He could be dehydrated if he’s not eating and drinking.

Well, we are almost a year later. Crazy how time flies. Buddy is still doing well. He has good days and bad days but it’s still eating and drinking and doing his thing. He is turning 8 next month - it makes me so sad! He hasn’t been to the vet in a while - still on his daily meds. I am going out of town next month for a week and a half and it breaks my heart to leave him. Someone will come twice a day for him. Wondering if I should take him to the vet prior to leaving to just make sure everything is a okay or when I get back. Any thoughts ?!

Is there any possibility of taking him with you? Or do you think that would stress him more?

If it was me, I would get a vet check before (if there is concern) but know that if he stresses you may be back at the vet when you return.

Ugh unfortunately I can not bring him. I also think it would stress him out. He is so comfy and home and has all his spots he sleeps in during the day.
I have someone coming twice a day so I’m not super worried about it.
I don’t have much concern - he is doing fine right now. So I don’t want to take him before just to make concern.
I think you’re right and I’ll get him all checked out when I’m back.
