Hi all!
I’m in the Atlanta, GA area. I am allergic to some cats but not others. I was closely bonded to a loving Mainecoone who passed recently. She was an amazing cat and I loved her dearly for over a decade, though I was very allergic.
From what I’ve read online, some people react differently to the different types of allergens that cats produce. I’d like to foster a Sphynx to see if I’m allergic. I’ve always wanted a Sphynx but want to make sure I am not allergic before another long term commitment.
For better or worse, once I’ve bonded with an animal I’ll put my own comfort aside to ensure they have a happy life so I think fostering is the right step this time. If I do turn out to be allergic, I can help find a loving home for them. Preferably female.
I work from home and have a very calm household. I do have two dogs but they are very gentle and sweet and were very kind and coexisted well with my late kitty.
