Hail Lairians

Merlin and I need some Lair prayers. He has been feeling poorly. We have a vet visit on Monday but I expect not great news. He has been thin no matter how much food is down. There are just too many signs that I can't ignore and I above all don't want Merlin to suffer. He is only 8 this summer past but they have been good mostly healthy years. I guess it is just hard thinking about loosing the last of my original crew. I am lucky to live with three other sphynx who are sure to keep me busy.
I will update here on what we find out on Monday.
Thanks all....

Merlin does not have a diagnosis but has had urine issues a couple of years ago. The becoming thin is worring. He has always had good weight and all the other cats in the house are chunky. As Doug said it is hard to be skinny in our house. And there have been other little things. Changes in eating and he has been more tired. Yes, 8 years is young. I am hopeful but having all the animals I have had you kinda know when something is up.

Sure hope test can show what's going on. Pray it's treatable.

@NinaGato , thinking of you and checking in on Merlin this morning-
Extra had smooches to Mr Handsome!
He slept in his usual spot and ate breakfast well. Had a good expression this morning before I took off for work. So we celebrate a happy morning.
That is so funny you called him Mr. Handsome! That is one of his nicknames. I call him my Handsome Dude. He didn't have a name for almost two weeks after I picked him up so I called him my handsome dude and it has always stuck. He responds to that as well as his name.
How is your old guy???
Thanks for the check in. Cheered me. Happy Saturday.

Awh! Always good to celebrate a good morning!
We are having a good morning too! He woke me up at 420 Am to go for a potty stroll!
At my feet now after a little mid morning stroll in the garden-
Counting the good hours -
Thank you for your thoughts! Means a lot to me-
Smooooooches to Merlin! Thanks for sharing his nickname story!

(Keep positive - my Omar got real thin 6 lbs- when he was about the same age as Merlin- test after test -was all idiopathic - vet sent me on my way with pred and antibiotics - shot gunning it - well, that boy bounced back and gained 6 lbs and lived a long life without further incident- )

Healing vibes sent for good news on Merlin's vet visit -
Love his picture! Yes, he is A most Handsome Dude! :)

((Hugs)))

Ok......it is bad.....
His heart is 2 times the size it should be. We took x-rays and sent out some blood work just to rule anything else out. I am just trying to keep it together today. He has a cardiac ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Honesty, I am pretty devestated. I don't know what else to say....

Merlin's cardiac ultrasound was today.
It is bittersweet news. His heart is in really bad shape. He has HCM. And has been asymtomatic for years. No heart murmur. We started a round of meds. And we are giving them up to a week for him to respond to treatment. If not we need to make a hard decision. Even if the drugs start to work the vet said maybe up to 6 months of quality life.
The big issue is his breathing. That needs to improve dramatically.
He eats and drinks and uses the box. Came and sat with me and the other cats for TV time. He is not telling me he wants to "go" yet. So we shall see what tomorrow brings.

@NinaGato , Thinking of you and Merlin - sending lair prayers for Good Days and and lots of snuggling TV time together .. Glad you got a round of meds for his comfort -

My Bengal Kato at 8 yrs old was treated for the same and the meds did help his breathing too-
All paws crossed here for Merlin! We know Merlin is in the best of love and care..

He made it through he night. Slept in his usual spot. Got up for breakfast. Took all his meds like a champ. And was roasting himself by a radiator when I took off for work. Everyday is a new day
