Mika has developed a bump.

Hello fellow Sphynx parents, just wanted to share with you guys that my Sphynx rescue Mika, has developed a bump on her upper front right leg. Of course I am extremely concerned, as it just popped out of nowhere. What gives me a little hope is that it has not grown any further and when touched, there is no attachment to the muscle. Obviously we went to the vet and she told us that it might be just a fat lump, OR that might be a growth due to a vaccine which can develop into a carcinoma. Mika is scheduled for surgery on Nov 24. We will skip doing a biopsy first and just taking care of business right away. Prayers and good energy are much needed and very welcomed. We will let you know how does everything comes out. Meanwhile any suggestions on how to keep the future wound free from licks and scratched is much appreciated. Thank you Sphynx parents.

oh wow, thats a big bump, I am glad you have surgery scheduled already . Poor Mika but she has you as parents and your taking care of her . Sending healing thoughts and hope she will recover quick from it .

Welcome! I am glad you got that checked. @KansasSphynxDad and @kansassphyxmom just had a bump removed from their baby's leg last week so they might have some tips on what to expect. Positive vibes are sent and please keep us updated.

Just be sure to remind your vet not to use Ketamine for anesthesia as it is dangerous with this breed,

That was a vaccine reaction- ( she has her come coming off today )
Hopefully they can chime in with some advice and recommendations -

I have read more and more about lumps and they turning out to be reaction to vaccines-
There is actually an article I read that mentions the location preference of each vaccine given-- ie rabies right leg , etc

Thank you all. Yes, I have followed Sobe's story and big thanks to @KansasSphynxDad and @KansasSphynxMom for sharing their story. This has given me a ray of hope and I am praying that Mika's outcome will be as positive as Sobe's. ❤️❤️❤️ To all!!

@JUANITA we are praying for Mika and that she had the same outcome as Sobe. The lump in your pics looks almost identical to the one Sobe developed. It showed up out of nowhere about 4 weeks after getting her feline leukemia vaccine. The vet told us that the reason they put the vaccine in the leg (rear leg as low as possible) is to have treatment options if it does create reaction.
I am so glad that it is getting removed. The vet said that these reaction lumps can resolve on their own but may take 6mo and if there were any carcinoma cells it would be bad to wait that long. They would rather take it off and not take the risk.

Thank you @Yoda mom @Hairless Blessing @Catzzzmeow @NinaGato @KansasSphynxMom @KansasSphynxDad for your head bumps, hugs and thoughts.

Mika is doing fine, just cuddling under her blankie a little more than usual, but she does that as soon as the weather starts changing from summer to fall.

Today the "button" Appears to be a little smaller. Just to be on the safe side I suspended her wet food ration. I usually mix one tablespoon of Wellness organic wet morsels food (which she looooves) on to her Blue organic dry one. After several minutes of serious protests and looks that could kill, she had no choice but to go Dry.

I am still waiting for a response by a Cat Doctor that specializes in, well... Only cats to get a second opinion. We are still scheduled for surgery on November 24 (don't want to loose my place in line, just in case), but a second opinion won't hurt anyone, right?
Will keep you posted if anything changes.
