@Hairless Blessing thank you. It's just been rough. While we're awaiting Tish's ashes to be returned, Lil wanted to start looking for things to put into the Urn box. So far we've come up with her favorite purple sweater & the only baby tooth of hers I ever found.

So sorry for your loss @ElvirasMum

It sounds so similar to how we lost Alfie at 3 years old. He had HCM, it can be symptomless until they throw a blood clot or go into cardiac arrest that ends their sweet little life. So sad :(

Sending hugs and love to you and Lily in this tough time. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.

@zoinks I am so sorry to hear Alfie's passing was so similar to Squishy's.
The more we sit with it, the more we suspect a neurological cause. She used to loose her balance, flick her ears like air was blowing on them but there wasn't even a fan on, underestimate distance from the floor to wherever she was trying to get. We just chalked it up to Squish being Squish. we just loved her.

Sara, I am incredibly sorry to read about the loss of Tish, the Squish. It made me feel sick to my stomach. You have been a wonderful mom to your babies, so you should be proud of that. Squishy was loved and you gave her a wonderful home and a loving family of her very own. She carries those warm fuzzy feelings with her straight to Heaven, where she will be waiting at the gate for you when it's your turn to go home.
She knew she was loved...and being loved....that is everything.
Much love,
Susi and the gang

@susi794 thank you.
We got her ashes back from the crematorium. Lily dressed the ashes in Squishy's favorite purple sweater. We put her baby tooth & some of our favorite pictures of her in the box as well. It's been helpful during the process.
Elvy was nosing around while we were setting up the memorial box & I think she just wanted to be a part of it. She licked Lil on the cheek & she's been 'breaking into' Lil's room for more frequent visits. (she uses her walrus butt to nudge open the door if it's not fully shut. I've never in my life witnessed a cat backing up into a door with such deliberation before!)
But you're right we loved Squish, she was a part of our family, and we did the absolute best we could for her as long as we had her.
Lily firmly believes she's in kitty heaven & can finally hear her name being called. Love to you & the gang!!

This is so hard.

My beloved Morticia Anne, Tish the Squish has sadly passed away.

She was three. She was my Happy Heart kitty, born on Valentine's Day 2013.

This sucks so much, my heart is so broken.

Early Friday morning, she wasn't acting right. She seemed more confused than normal, & she had no strength. I got up to feed her & the great grey beast, and she just kind of rolled over in the bed. So I picked her up to carry her downstairs, tucked her blankie all around her as we went.

When we got downstairs, I set her down & set about opening the wet food, filling up their water. I then noticed she wasn't holding herself up in front of the bowl. So I turned to walk to the kitchen to get a spoon, when she let out this wail. I ran back to her, picked her up, looked her over to see if there was something hurting her, something poking her? I couldn't find anything.

Then, she started having a seizure right there in my arms. It felt like it lasted forever. I panicked & ransacked my own purse for my car keys, my wallet, searching desperately for my shoes, preparing myself to leave the house, when the seizing stopped, she sighed. And that was it. She was gone.

I tucked her into a kitty bed & called Pete and cried my face off on the phone to him.
I waited til Lil got up & let her say good bye to her beloved baby kitty.
We made arrangements and she'll be returned to us a week from Wednesday.

My poor sweet Lily is absolutely, gut wrenchingly, heart shatteringly devastated.

Nothing in this world makes you feel like a wretched failure of a mom more than the unexpected passing of your beloved baby cat & the heart breaking grief of your child. I feel so small, so powerless. I would take every ounce of pain & grief from my child if I could.

I'm sorry to just put it out there like this. I had no warning. No time to prepare. No signs or symptoms of illness. She's just gone, and she's left a huge hole in all of us.

i am so sorry for your unexpected loss of morticia, but please know that you do not need to and should not ever apologize for sharing your feelings; as a mom of a now 18 yr old who grew up with our recently passed 17 yr old cornish rex, phoenix, (who also passed in my arms early one morning) i know what you mean when you say you would do anything to take away their pain, but i hope this comes out right "the deeper carved the pain, the more capacity for joy." i have found that it never gets any easier, with each companion animal loss, even other kinds of loss, but i would never change from being someone who wants to continue to give my love to another when the time is right......
