Moving Day #1

So I have packed the van, ready to rumble with a load of boxes and stuff.
Pixie is staying up here on her own over night (I feel HORRIBLE about it, but it's better than the alternative) while I drive down to my parents, unload, and drive back up again.
I've already broken the van. Dog ran into archway and I instinctively pulled to the right to avoid her - and there went the right mirror. Sucks, but better than running over a dog.
The only thing left to pack is the computer, but I'm taking that with the car, when I come back tomorrow. (Well, I probably drive back Saturday, not sure yet.)
I am planning to let Pixie sit in the car outside of the cat box. She seems to be okay. Will get one of those safety belts for her tho, and possibly net off the back of the car, so she can roam there and not get in the driver side.
Oz is being picked up at 9pm, so I'm going to get him up at half past eight.
It'll be interesting to load him - since he doesn't load...
If all else fails, he has to stay here and go to Bad Hersfeld with the lot of them, and I'll pick him and Storm up from there.
I've had the lady with the apartment on the phone today, telling me it's free from 1st July - which would be perfect. Have to look at it first tho.

So... the big move has arrived. I am officially outta here. Sorta. Yeah. Almost. LOL

Good luck with moving. Drive carefully. You stay with your parents for a while? Hope the appartment will be good so you can move to your own new place soon.

I took this just as I walked out of the door to bring Oz up for loading.

I was seriously near crying. I hated leaving her for the entire night and day, but I'm glad I did.
It was a nasty drive today. One traffic jam after another, roadworks every 50km or so the ENTIRE way down. The "Engine overheating" sign came on every time I went near 100km/h. I filled water, didn't make any difference. Lots of little lights coming on, and going out. The cigarette lighter didn't work - which means I couldn't charge *anything* through that.
Luckily I had a fully changed battery charger, which gave me enough juice for the SatNav (GPS) when I needed it. But...geez. Seriously.
I HATED that van. And I hated driving it through roadworks even more. When you have just BARELY enough room to keep the thing between the lines (They don't mess around in Germany) and they put barricades on both sides... I mean, ffs. It was 35C today (No AC in van), and I kept being blinded by the setting sun -- and had to keep this huge heap in the middle for mile after mile...
I did almost 1000km today... and the Sat Nav thought it was perfectly FINE to send me down lanes where you'd be having claustrophobia on a bicycle, let alone a big fat Mercedes Sprinter!

I *am* really worried about Pixie being at my parent's tho.
It's HOT here atm, and all the balcony doors and windows are open.
All of that leads straight out onto the roof...

Sorry to hear you had sich a terrible trip!
And oh how Pixie knows how to give you the look "are you really leaving me alone? Really? Nooooooo". They always know how to make us feel guilty.

Hope you find a way to keep Pixie safe in your parents house.

I'll figure something out. If all else fails, I'll have to leave her up in the attic room. I just don't particularly want to, because it's baking up there when it's hot, and I'll have to leave the litter tray up there too.

I would not leave her in the attic. She could die up there.
That will be extremely to hot.
I would get a screen as suggested, for one room and
leave her in there. I would hate for your to loose your baby.

@Hairless Blessing I'd only leave her there with some kind of cooling of course.

We got here, made a slight detour to drop off a folder the vet forgot, which netted me two wormer for the horses lol
Nice of him. ☺
Pixie sat in the back, on her bed, with a safety belt and was happy.

So we came in.. and not even an hour later I'm like "where is the cat"
Looked everywhere and couldn't find her.
So I call on the balcony and hear plaintive meowing -- in the car park!
She must have gone out of the window, on the roof, and climbed down the greenery. It's the only way down.
Ran downstairs to get her. She was fine, just a bit scared. All alone in a strange place, in the dark. Never seen that cat so happy to see me lol

Right now she's roaming, amazed by the birds, and there are sunny spots everywhere! And carpet!

Glad to hear everything went well amd you're for now settled with your parents. And very happy to hear you did find Pixie back at the car park. Hope you'll get some rest now.

Did you know there is NO sunscreen, safe for your sphynx?
She will lick it and in jest it. It's poisoning to them.
I didn't know if you knew that or not. I would wash it off.
She's adorable by the way.

Phew.
Mind you, luckily I only put a little on the top of her head and back. She was too busy checking everything out and had only just snuggled into her bed when I saw the posts. She wasn't happy about the bath, but I don't think she lived any off. I'd wiped her with water wipes when it clouded over.
There's an aircon thing I can put in the attic room (it has windows, it's a bedroom) if all else fails. But with a bit of luck I'll be moving for the last time in a week or so.

She's actually being extremely good. The balcony doors were open all day. She went out a little while, 10 mins or so, then came back in. She is treating it like another room, which just happens to be outside.
As long as no one is outside, she's not either.
No more escapes across the roof, either.
