Fast forward to last month, after we moved to Kansas from the Nevada desert. We treated the cats, house and yard for fleas, and Marcus is doing just fine. Cleo was too, for about a week or so. Then she started developing small bumps that quickly began to look like acne pimples. She was so itchy that the bumps quickly developed scabs. We found a wonderful visiting vet, who came to see her today. He agrees that it is a flea allergy, and gave her an steroid injection to help with the itching. Then he wanted us to give her an oral antibiotic, Cefadroxil, for the next 5 days to get rid of the bumps. He gave her the first dose, and half an hour later, she vomited all of her lunch. Three hours later, she vomited all of her supper.
So we aren’t going to give her any more of that antibiotic, and the vet has said he will come give her a shot for the vomiting if it continues tonight. Now we have to dab the spots with betadine, since we don’t want to try too much else right now.
Poor Cleo. She does love her food, and she is not too happy right now. We’ll keep you posted on the newest allergy.
You can see bumps just over each eye.
