Be careful and research, research, research.
I know there's one breeder there that I was going to buy from, but no money exchanged hands due to a family emergency, I'm so glad now I didn't buy from her as I read up more and found out about the real cattery, behind the nice front. (Infact I think there's a 'bad guy' thread on here about them)

And that's what makes a good breeder! Very few are perfect, those that say they are are usually the bad breeders! Good breeders are constantly trying to improve! I've been showing, rescueing, and breeding Italian Greyhounds for 5 years now, and 2 years with Afghan Hounds. I'm far from perfect, but I am constantly learning, and have come a long ways from where I started. Out of the 2 litters I've bred, I've had 2 group winning dogs, one that also took a couple best puppy in show ribbons, and except for 1 dog, all the pups that have been shown have finished. If I bred more frequently, I doubt I could say that. It's time consuming and expensive to do it right! Sure you can breed more, but quality is what I strive for, and if there's litter after litter, how can a breeder keep up with socialization and basic care of that many babies, let alone giving them the attention they need to be trusting, loving pets! Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I am a big believer in giving babies the best start, they need patience, they need love, and they need A LOT of care and attention long before they're ready to be placed in new homes to become well adjusted adults and meet their full potentials!

I am/was a breeder of French Lop rabbits for a while til I moved to vegas.So I fully understand that when it comes to litters less is more. And I have to say I love Afghan Hounds!!! They are in my top three fav. Dogs. My other two are Pitbulls(ownone) and Pomeranians(own one too.) Dogs I know a TON about. Cats on the other hand I am still learning. Thankyou everyone here seems to have very good advice. Im very happy I joined this Forum!

I live in Utah, and I know most of the breeders here and I can say that a few shouldn't be trusted (I wont post any names because it's just rude to put on a forum). I know of two breeders in Vegas.

I agree that finding a pet home might be easier because most breeders are pretty picky. I'd ask the breeders in Vegas if they know of any people who'd let you come over and play.
