This evening a lady came to the door wanting to talk about alternative energy. ( I live in a nicer neighborhood with a public park so there are always people of some sort walking dogs/kids etc) I told her we weren't interested and she left but she walked around the neighborhood cars and mine looked like she was taking photos then she came and knocked on the door again and i said we really aren't interestesd and you need to leave and she meandered about our block still. so I called the police department to be safe. Never thought he would come to my house!!!!! now she knows it was me and im scared they will come and hurt my babies. Husband says I worry too much and since he check her id and took her name she wouldn't be that dumb. I just worry so!

There is one company that comes around energy soliciting who has a horrible track record... I wonder if she was with them. In our city they have walked right into people's homes when they didn't answer the door right away. And they use sketchy high pressure sales tactics. If I hadn't seen the reviews online with the BBB I would have thought for sure that something was up. They act so odd, like they have alterior motives.

BTW I always worry about that too. We live in a condo complex with some lower income families, and I was so fearful that someone would steal ours if they knew how much they are "worth".

I'm sure she would be afraid to do anything now. She was awful pushy and demanding.
You did the right thing. I would inform people in the neighborhood also.

I had someone at our old apartment complex tell us Frankenstein looked expensive :(

I'm also afraid someone will steal them, thinking they are worth a lot. No one comes here that's not family or invited. If you do , you get greeted with a Glock.

Like @Catzzzmeow said, go with your gut. I would have made the call, and have in the past. One thing that you can do when you call is tell the dispatcher that you request no contact as the reporting party to protect your privacy from the person/incident you are calling about and give your phone number for the officer to call if they need to ask you anything.

It is likely nothing and they are just a nosey solicitor, but being a good neighbor and making note of anything out of the ordinary can be helpful.

You did the right thing, making the phone call. I'd be concerned, too, but I'm sure it will be all right. Maybe the department received several calls about this weirdo. I would, had I seen what you saw.

I was also just going to say, you did the right thing! I would have called the cops too. Specially if they are fishy like that and come back. We have a "no solicitation" sign at the door and some still knock and I rip the door open and just point to the sign !! They can get in troubles if they do not obey by the sign, they can get fined .
You know, they are not coming back, because You called the cops, they know you mean buisness.

Where I live there are tons of scammers and thieves going around canvassing people's houses by pretending to be sales people.

I use Basil as an excuse because he has a mean bark and do not let them in our home.

The last two nights people have knocked on our door at 10 pm and when I go to answer it there is nobody there. Basil scares people, so I'm glad we have him. We live right across the street from the park where all the teenagers hang out and the cops refuse to patrol the area because they don't want to get the kids in trouble.

When in doubt, call the cops. People these days are always trying to find ways to see what you have and if they can take it

@gothicmist I have not been on the Lair in about a week because of work, and so no one has heard my update, but unfortunately, my car was broken into on Friday, looks like they forced the drivers side door open, and stole 3 bags from my car.

My Work bag was taken, a duffel bag and Fluffy's bag. Unfortunately, my work bag had my wallet in it as I was going to work just a few hours later. My car was only in front of my house for a few hours and I WAS HOME!! IT happened sometime between 1pm-5pm. This is just 6 weeks after my house was broken into and I had a mass amount of electronics, medications and other items stolen from the house and some things in the house yptrashed. 2 weeks ago the police had officially "closed" my break-in case, but now I believe it is back open.

I have no qualms calling the police about anything in the neighborhood right now that looks suspicious. I have called on a few cars that were lurking on the street, a van sitting down the road, etc.

When the house break in occurred, Moses was TERRIFIED, so I honestly think they tried to,do something to him, so,I would never hesitate to do something to protect my babies.
