Hi guys, Phoebe, Raisin and Luna's mommy here. So sorry I've been inactive for a few weeks. Sick kids and my elderly mother having cataract surgery has taken up my days.

I could really use a few healing vibes sent this way. Our dear, sweetheart Luna is very, very ill.

Long story short, she stopped eating and going to the bathroom. I took her to the vet, Thursday morning and her levels were all out of whack in everything. For example, one this was supposed to be under 100 was well over 400. Her liver is failing . The vet has no idea what has caused this. Over the weekend, she has been on an IV and given an appetite stimulate. It didn't help much. She licked the liquid around the wet food she was given and nothing more. I called this morning to find out how she is doing and the vet is doing more blood work to see if the IV's have at least helped her many levels out a bit. Then we may need to move onto a feeding tube, that will insert in her neck straight to her tummy.

I'm waiting to hear back from the vet about her blood work. Feeling nervous and very sad for my lovely lady, Luna. She is such a wonderfully sweet kitty...and we are not ready to lose her but don't want her to suffer either.

Just giving an update. The vet called me back about her latest lab work. Her levels have actually gotten worse, but her liver is still producing a bit of glucose. There is no other option than to put a feeding tube on her. Through this she will start off with a liquid diet, then a blended mix of liquid and wet food. I'll also be crushing her meds and putting them in the tube.

She will wear the feeding tube until she eats on her own. The vet said could be a few days or a few weeks. She is having the minor surgical procedure done this evening and will stay at the vets for a few more days to be monitored.

I know this will give her the nutrients she needs and fill her belly. But I'm so nervous she won't eat on her own. We're all so confused about why this is happening. Did she come to us sick? There's been nothing stressful going on in our home. She hides all day still, under our bed but when the lights go out, she is out roaming and loving on us in bed. She doesn't mind our Sphynx girls and they don't mind her. I just don't know. And neither does the vet, which makes this hard to tell what the final outcome will be.

Once again, thanks for these hugs, everyone. I'll keep updating through this next process. I hardly slept last night... I was missing her making biscuits on my belly and rubbing her soft, furry head on my hands. She's one of those special creatures, that when they look at you, you know they are looking deep into your soul.

@bluejay1919 thank you for updating. So baffling why this would happen all of a sudden and the vet hasn't a clue. There's no way she got into anything bad like a poison or even someone's pills?
I'm praying that she comes through this with flying colors.

"Come on, Luna, you have to get better!"

HUGS

There's always a chance she got into something, I guess, but I honestly feel pretty sure she didn't get into anything. She doesn't go anywhere during the day. She just lays under our bed. At night, there is nothing out. We haven't dropped any medication... I just can't think of anything.

I gave those smooches to Phoebe and Raisin last night. They sure appreciated them! I think they know something is wrong. They were looking for her yesterday under the bed.

Good news is that the assistant that gave little Barneby too much dewormer is staying far away from Luna. The vet told me how sweet and loving Luna is and what a chirper she is. Yep, that's Luna. We know she doesn't feel good but she still has so much love to give to everyone around her. Never thinking of herself-

Hopefully today, the vet will call me and let me know how the process went with putting the tube in. It may be a few more days before I can bring her home. I'm ready to see her.

@bluejay1919 sorry to hear Luna's bloodlevels are even worse and that feeding by tube is necessary. It must be so difficult to hear that Luna's is so sick without knowing what is going on.
Keep sending healing vibes to Luna and another hug to you.
Thanks for the updates, we're all so concerned about Luna.

Oh dear, poor Luna. I hope things improve quickly for her, it must be awful her being away at the vets, but they seem to be looking after her well and your vet seems to have her welfare at heart.

She is a beautiful kitty! What a lovely coat she has. And her eyes are so pretty! Lots of health vibes and wishes coming your way

@lealea thanks for your kind thoughts and well wishes. We're still waiting to hear how the feeding tube is going since yesterday evening. We may not get her back until this weekend. This will give them a chance to check her levels with the feeding tube help.

That's so sweet of you to compliment her coat she is so soft, fluffy and loves to be brushed, especially her belly. We fell in love with her coloring too... Reminds me of the surface of the moon. My husband has wanted a Maine Coon for a while now, so he's very nervous about all of this. We're biting our nails, for sure.
