Neutering advice

Hello Sphynx family

My boy will be getting neutered in a couple of weeks and I am just wondering if you have any advice for me? I already spoke to the vet about the anesthesia with no ketamine but I was wondering if you have any tips on recovery or what to do when I bring him home. Thanks!

I bought and took my own neck cone for after the surgery as theirs are really big, hard and heavy. I got a soft, light weight one. He actually went through two as he hated them and tried to chew them off. I have now seen ones that are a soft padded daisy looking necklace It is very important that they do not lick that area as there are no stitches.
My boy also went stark raving mad when we got home. A side effect of the anesthesia. He had so much energy and ran around like a banshee. Do not stress if it happens just try keep him in a room rather than running and jumping all around.

@ZekeTheSphynx , glad you know and discussed NO ketamine. I have them mark their charts and also put it on their crates at drop off. my vet used isoflurane and propofol. my boy did not need a cone. kept him in my bedroom when he got home for some snoozing n snuggles. He bounced back quickly and did not need a cone. some have a soft cone on hand. some vets give some pain meds at discharge. my boys have always bounced back super quick. hugs n head smooches, keep us posted

He got neutered today and they did blood work before and everything was fine. However he has a bruise on both his back legs and they look quite blue. He is walking on them but I’m wondering if this is normal? Is it from the needles? Thanks. The vets closed but I plan on calling tomorrow to ask.

Bless him my little one too had bruising but not so bad As I was there when they put the clamps on his hind legs so he was calm. They put clamps on his hind legs to monitor the heart beat. But I would double check with the vet on why they are so bruised. Give him a phone call. It was swollen for a few days too.

Oh okay that makes sense! Thank you. But yes I will def give them a call tomorrow and ask.
