I am so sad to read this post. You opened up and shared and now you will have a support system. US...There are several Lair members who have experience with HCM so pick their brains after they comment. Glad you got it diagnosed early on. Just do your best to keep things regulated and just love your baby. No one knows their fate, but one thing is for certain...you will love that baby and be loved in return. You have many tomorrows to go :)

Sorry to hear that ::hugs:: - wishing all the best for little Spike. You will find lots of support on here along with people who are in a similar boat that may be able to give advice and tips.

Please keep us updated! And when you feel like it, post some pictures of your babies so we can see!

I am so sorry. It is devastating to get that diagnosis. Don't ever let them stamp an expiration date on him though! It's great that you've caught this early. Did they give you any medications for him? My Ash has HOCM, which is obstructed HCM. He gets regular meds like Atenolol and Enalipril and has been doing well, even lowered his murmur grade. Another thing is to learn what his breathing rate is when he's relaxed or sleeping, but not purring. That way you can tell if he's having breathing distress. HUGS to you and Spike and know that there are a lot of people here for you if you have any questions or just want to vent!

i know to good how you feel, my cat get the diagnosis last wee. she startet with atenolol too. we sadly can´t do muh as try to give them the best home and hope

So sorry about the dx. I hate to come on here and read bad news. Thank goodness it's in it's early stages and he will have a very long, happy life with you.
