New Peep with 2 Sphynxies

Good afternoon-
Figured I would eventually find my way over to this intro site. I wasn't aware this site existed, otherwise I would have been here years ago! My name is Jen, and I have 2 energentic sphynx kitties, Moses and Fluffy. Moses is almost 5 yrs old, Fluffy is just about 6.

My parents took me to a cat show when I was a kid, and I saw a sphynx and fell in love. Since that day, I told them I was going to get one, and name it Moses (only because I thought that would be hysterical - a hairless cat named Moses). So, when the time came to move out on my own 15 yrs later, I barely had enough furniture or anything else, but managed to get a sphynx! Shortly thereafter, I realized Moses needed a companion, and had my eye on a poor little one that needed rescused, so Fluffy came to us. Now the three of live happily here in NY (well, they are happy - they do not pay they heating bill!).

Moses is blue and white and Fluffs is a brown mackerel tabby. Both are therapy cats, and go to Hospice up here and to the local nursing homes. I am pretty lenient with them, but as long as they stay healthy and happy, that's what matters!

I told dare2bbare I would post a few photos of us at pet therapy. I could only find Moses with the woman who particularly requsted them almost weekly until she passed - Benzena; Although, she couldn't quite get the hang of "sphynx" or "Hairless" cat, so she always requested "You bring those skinless cats back now, ya hear?"
These were when he was a baby! We visited her for almost 2 years! She nicknamed him "Mr. Moses".

I'll send Fluffs over for a visit. Hope you like to have an automatic alarm at about...5am! I thought the time change would help but no such luck! Sometimes she's hungry, other times is just awake and has to play with my glasses, my phone, walk on the alarm clock! Heaven forbid I get a call for work in the middle of the night cause the it's all over!

I've told my colleagues if they call me and I'm not on call, and wake the cat, they get her for a week!

Welcome Jen! So glad you are here. Your babies are precious. I admire the selfless work you do as therapists. My three are all rescues. I have not been fortunate enough to get one comfortable enough to become a therapist. One day it will happen but every time I think I might get a kitten A new rescue calls my name. I hear you about the heating bills, OUCH!!! So, what do the senior citizens think of your babies when you bring them there? That is a very nice service you provide to Hospice.

They LOVE them, especially the Alzheimer's pts and Fluffy. She will just it in their arms and let them rock her like a baby and sing to her, etc. Keeps them nice and calm actually. Plus, a lot of the seniors don't get to see their pets after they go to their nursing homes, and they miss them so terribly. Just to sit and pet an animal brings them so much peace. They could care less if the cat has hair or not at that point. Sometimes they cry when they just sit on their laps, and are just so grateful to get pet therapy.
