Hey everyone- so less than 2 weeks before binxy comes home. I've bought lots of bits but wondered if there is anything I should buy that you don't buy for furry cats I just bought a heat mat as recommended ...,,

Along with the blankets and heating pad, I really like the covered beds. Akali likes open beds too, but she really favors the enclosed ones because they keep heat better. There is also the shampoo, nail clippers, and ear cleaning solutions. For shampoo, I like to use Johnson and Johnson baby wash. Its affordable and it works really well with Akali. Some people also like to buy coconut oil because it gets the grime off of their toes easier than anything else. Besides those things, I really cant think of anything else extra.

P.s. If you want a really good enclosed cat bed, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the info from where I got mine.

Throws are always good to have around even in the spring/summer and a few shirts for cooler nights

Shampoo
Coconut Oil
Ear cleaning solution/cotton balls
Nail clippers
Pet wipes (I use baby wipes)
Toys
Cat perch

Hmmmmm can't really think of much else.....

Maybe a bed or 2 (although mine tend to sleep everywhere but their cat beds LOL)

I'm sure you've got most of what's on my list already

A harness if you plan on yard trips?

it might not be somthing that is needed right away but a cat condo is alway nice to have so they can play and scratch on that instead of your furniture

I am extremely happy with this pet safe heating pad: https://www.petzzzpad.com/

It heats up when the pet steps on it and shuts off when the pet gets off! I feel safer with it rather than a heating pad that stays on all the time. I even like the on/off feature more so because many heating pads have an auto-shut off ,but don't go back on automatically.

I also NEVER have to worry about the heating pad getting too hot for them. It will heats to the vet recommended perfect temperature of 102 degrees!

Other than what people have said above, I reallllllly like using eye wipes and ear wipes specifically for pets. I get mine at Walmart in the pet section and they do wonders on Osiris' ears and eyes when he gets really gross and grimy. I find they're easier to clean with aswell.

Aw thankyou everyone- I pretty much have all that stuff now I bought a heat may that doesn't use electric - apparently it heats up with their own body heat..... Not sure how it really works but ill try it out myself when it comes! Was a bit worried about leaving it plugged in when I was out.
I still need to go get the nail clippers - I have ones for my dogs but I think nail scissors would be better for the sphynx?
We have an awesome cat tower which I'm sure binxy will also love!
I'm getting so excited I just want him to come home!!

Just bought him a soft sided carrier too- we have the hard types but I figured that with his no fur he needs extra comfort

Did you check into the pet safe heating pad that I mentioned to you? I'm asking because I am not one to keep things "on" when I'm not around. I mean it IS plugged in, but no heat will begin until the pet steps onto the pad. Then it automatically shuts right off when the pet steps off the pad. I love that feature and my cats love the warmth.

Oh yes i did mine is non electric - heats up by reflecting the cats own heat back to them I was also worried about the safety aspect. Pleased with the one I found

Especially since your baby is a male, you may want to invest in a water fountain for him.

It's a really good thing to start him on harness and leash training right away. Cleo started at 3 months. Another thing to consider is clicker training. These cats have sooooo much energy that they really benefit from training. We got clickers from the dog section at Petsmart and treats that are only for special times like bath, vet and training. Cleo can do several tricks on command, like sit, down, sit up, stand up (on hind feet), weave thru my legs and jump from place to place on command. It has really helped work off her energy.

That's a great idea ill get a clicker for sure. I've bought a cute harness ready for him - I can't wait to try it on him! Hope he doesn't freak out. Cleo sounds really clever!!! Hope binxy is the same

Yes, a drinking fountain is really good for any cat, but especially a male. Cats are attracted to running water and will usually drink more when you use a fountain. Drinking more water helps to assure that your little boy's urinary tract doesn't get blocked--which can be fatal. If you can afford one, get one with a stainless steel or ceramic bowl--healthier for your cat and easier for you to keep clean.

I've found one that looks good - the lucky kitty one. It seems pretty expensive at £60, but you don't need replacement filters so I guess you save money in the long run? Are there any cheaper ceramic / metal ones out there?

Have you tried amazon dot com? I think the stainless steel ones run about $63. The ceramic ones run about $49-$60 but they both use filters that you'll have to buy. I know they sound expensive, but one vet visit with a blocked urinary tract will cost you a LOT more.
