New sphynx kitten/ diet

Hello, I am getting a sphynx kitten in late July.
While doing research, I can’t really seem to find an answer… it’s seems more like people saying “wet foods are wrong” or “raw foods wrong” or “dry is the worst” and this has me puzzled!
I ordered royal canin wet kitten food & dry
I plan to mainly feed wet food for now, and have dry for grazing when I’m at work occasionally.
What do you do? And do you use a full can per feeding? I will be getting him at 14 weeks and just want to be prepared. If you have other wet food brand recommendations, that have the proper nutrition for cats I’d be happy to hear those!

great you are doing your research. there are so many opinions out there on food, you can drive yourself crazy on all the different opinions on food. I know, been there , done that.

for me, bottom line, I feed what works for their tummies n bums. there is no right or wrong. We all find a food and care routine that works best for our individual babies.
mine are all adult adoptees, I free feed dry and put a small amount of canned food free fed in the morning. I figured out the amount I know they will eat up of the wet food within the hour.

Members with kittens will surely chime in. sphynx kittens eat alot.

I know many breeders have their babies on royal canin food. I personally would continue to feed what your breeder is feeding and you sloowly transition later on .

hope you can share a pic of your upcoming baby (no breeder watermarked photos, you can ask breeder for separate photo) . Do you have a name list started?

jump in and enjoy this fun friendly bunch. recommend kitty proofing home (plants, computer cords, drapery , blind cords, etc)
. they are like cat,dog, monkey baby all in one for life.

check your contract, some breeders require a wellness check within a certain time frame. you can bring a stool sample to the wellness check (needs to be a fresh sample, you can refrigerate in a sealed container).

What a handsome boy you'll get! And he looks so cute too. Such an exciting time ahead of you.

The food you did buy is good food. Please don't let people drive you crazy with all their opinions. I think raw, dry and wet food all can be good. Most important is that your boy loves the food and his tummy is okay with the food too.

Our kitten is 9 months old. We always fed kittens what the breeder fed them and then transitioned them over very slowly after a couple of months. Food is a hot button topic…everyone believes what they feed is best. Wet food is typically better because it has less fillers. I feed wet 2 times a day (morning and night) and dry between wet meals. They first year I feed them as much as they want and then at one year of age and then at vet visit at 1 year ask what the ideal weight should be and work from there. I feed Wellness Grain-free wet and dry now.
