Looking for advice on what temperature to keep my house at during winter. Also, what is the best shampoo to use on a sphynx kitten? I have heard many different things and am wondering what has worked best for everyone. Thank you in advance :)

@AlexaEels , I have four sphynx they do great with Hylyt shampoo- soap free hypoallergenic and smells great and rinses easy! No skin issues at all and they are soooo soft- I recommend Hylyt and a pair of exfoliating gloves to hold slippery kitty and helps get them clean - I put a towel on the bottom of our "spa" tub :) or sink

I live in Florida with constant AC around 76 degrees and they all do fine - best advice I have is to get a few of those 50x60 throw blankets ( I get at Ross or Marshall's for about $10) I keep around the house - they are experts at finding warm spots! Please be careful with flat top stoves , floor heat vents (recommend air deflectors for floor vents) , wood stoves , etc - and toilet lids down! I don't use fabric softners or dryers sheets when washing kitty Beth towels or blankets or cat beds to avoid allergies-

I get Hylyt shampoo online and my vets office sells it too
Various places sell it online - I was told about it by a member and looooove it
I only use the Hylyt shampoo and even use it with baby wash clothes for in between wipe downs instead of baby wipes - I use unscented alcohol free only baby wipes for toe nails n butts

Thank you so much for all this great advice. I use the same shampoo on my bulldog. Perfect. I will be very careful with the stove top, I never thought of that. We do not have central heat so the vents are only for AC which will be out of use until summer. We do have an electric fireplace, but it is not hot to the touch at all. In fact none of our heaters are hot to the touch because we have an autistic daughter we have to make sure she is safe. Oh and we have tons of fuzzy warm blankets all over the house for our daughter. She has a few in every room and at least 2 on the sofa at all times. She keeps a bean bag with a could fuzzy blankets by the fireplace to keep herself and our bulldog warm. That is their cuddle spot. We also have a couple shag throw rugs throughout the house for our bulldog. We really don't use fabric sheets either because the hubby has super sensitive skin. Thanks again for the advice, I need all I can get! I have been a busy mama and cleaning and kitty proofing the house. Hubby says I am nesting lol

Sounds like a normal day in my house lol. We already have all paperwork, have had a checkup at our vet and he has already had HCM scan. He is in great health and we are just waiting for my husband to get home from his business trip so we can pick him up tomorrow. So excited! We do have to wait until he is a bit older before he can be neutered, but that is no big deal. He is just too young for that still. A few more weeks and we will have that done.

Welcome to sphynxlair, good to have you. Try to feed a good grain free food.
Wet and dry. If your breeder is using a good food don't change it. If you have to change it
you have to slowly.
1st week 1/4 new 3/4 old
2nd week 1/2 new 1/2 old
3rd week 3/4 new 1/4 old
4th week switch completely.
Their stomach is easy to get
upset. You have to be careful.

The breeders are feeding Iams and I am just not a fan at all. I will switch slowly, that is perfect thank you. Now to figure out the best food to feed my baby.

I feed Natural Balance LID
(Limited Ingredients Diet)
Very fine food. It's grain free
no filers and junk.
They have different flavors.
I use green peas and salmon.
My Izmae had issues with poultry. So even if it's not Chicken you have to read the ingredients. It still can have chicken fat or broth. Seems like I've noticed just here on the lair
there is several that can't feed poultry.I think I would go with something else. Not even chance it.

That is what I feed my bulldog, well not the kind for cats lol. Thank you, I do love that brand.

I'm so excited for you. I'd love to see your awesome household of animal companions. I'm sure baldwin will snuggle up to your Maine coon eventually.

I also use HyLyt shampoo.

We have lots of blankets, a fireplace with a bed in front, and three heated cave beds. Our house ranges in temperature as we like fresh air, but Max has lots of places to find warmth.

Have fun today.

@AlexaEels Can't wait to see the pics. Just wanted to remind you to make sure you get the records from vaccinations from your breeder. It can be easy to forget to ask for them with all of the excitement!

Thank you. I am afraid I might forget who I am! I am spending my day cleaning and doing some unnecessary shopping lol. I mean I am sure he doesn't need every toy and sweater I can find. I may need help lol

LOL LOL LOL

I love Sphynx parents in waiting. We're all the same breed of anticipation. Your intensity and seeming madness is in good company.

I'm anxious with you right now!!!

Well good news and bad news. We went and got to visit our baby and the hubby ended up falling in love with one of Baldwins brothers. So he is going in for a vet visit this week and we will be brining home two babies. Baldwin and Seymour. They will be here Sunday. This wait is going to kill me!
