Hello everyone!

This is my first post and I wanted to say hello!

I do not have a sphynx yet- I am just starting my search and research. I live in Washington DC- is there anyone who can recommend a good/ reputable breeder in the area?

Thanks,

April

Good luck in your search! I've just found and put a deposit on my second Sphynx, so I know what you are going/will be going through in searching for breeders and asking questions to make sure they are indeed reputable. In the meantime, checkout the wealth of info on food, litter, grooming, etc here. I've learned so much since I brought my first baby home :)

If you find a Sphynx Google the persons email address 1st! Lots of scams going on. If you see one the person wants to give you the cat free and you pay only shipping its 99% fake.

We can't give you breeder recommendations on the board--we're not allowed to name breeders or their catteries, but people can private message you their own personal experiences.....just remember that they are only opinions and everyone has a different one--what was a good experience for someone with a breeder might not be a good experience with another person. Do your research, visit if you can, ask lots of questions, look at the kits they have to offer and the way in which they are raised, talk to previous buyers and their vet if they will provide you with vet references, ask if they scan and if their cats are up to date on their immunizations. Ask to see the proof of all that. Ask if the kits are caged, or brought up in a cat room, or are raised underfoot. In my opinion, they are much more socialized if they are raised underfoot. Take a while to talk to the breeder and go with what your gut tells you. Look at their contract, make sure you can live with the provisions stated there. They should be willing to answer any questions you have without making you feel like you're being a pain and check their name on google to see if anyone has posted a rip off report or complaint against them. Good luck on your search! And welcome to the Lair!
Hugs,
