Hello, my name is Emi & I'm a newbie! I am a single mother of two girls, three cats, one dog & two snakes! I am very in love with animals lol.

I had a sphynx a few years ago whom I adopted from craigslist who was a few years old, & had a bit of fuzz. She was very loving & gorgeous! I had to move so I had a friend hold onto her, who fell in love with her, so I let her keep Chemo. She's very happy.

My first cat is Panda who I adopted from animal control a few years ago. She was very emaciated, sneezing blood & wouldn't eat. They were going to put her down, but I wouldn't have it. I had to force feed her, give her medicine daily, & now she's a very happy, tubby Manx. :)

My second cat is Chester who was also adopted from Craigslist. He's a mix, but I swear he's part ragdoll. He is a beauty. :)

My current baby I had just adopted yesterday is a completely hairless sphynx aside from her nose. She's super sick right now & we are fighting hard to keep her eyes. She's got a terrible infection, her right eye is swollen to twice the size of what it should be. Every 4 hours she needs antibiotics in her eyes. It's helping, the redness has disappeared, she can open her eyes a lot better, & seems very happy aside the pain she may be in. We are crossing our fingers hard this antibiotic can save her eyes, if by next week the swelling doesn't go down she may have to have her eye removed. :( We love her like crazy & are doing every single thing we can to keep her comfortable & happy as possible.

Welcome! I hope your new baby heals up! If she does lose her eye, though, she'll be able to function just fine. I've got a one-eyed girl who chases her tail around the pole at the top of the cat tree.

We don't think she can see at all because both eyes are infected. Just her right is swollen. She does so well for not being able to see. I am so proud of her. She got off the couch by herself I was scared when I came from the bathroom seeing her halfway off the couch lol. She does amazingly. & that's adorable! The only one who finds her tail the most amazing thing ever is my ragdoll mix Chester hahaha!

Hi Emi and Welcome to the Lair. Good for you for taking in a cat that needs a little extra care. I hope she recovers well. It sounds as if she is in good hands. What is her name? Keep us posted on her recovery.

Honestly, I can't think of a name for her right now! I thought of not only coming here for the sphynx community, the support but also some help to name her! I always love taking in animals who need help. I don't know why, I just feel obligated to help them. I love seeing their progress & the end result of a happy healthy pet who you would have never guessed would have had the problems they did. & I will def keep you guys posted. I already love this forum & I just got here about 20 mins ago! hehe.

welcome!

have faith in what love and and good home can do! when we adopted jedi last year we were told he was 3 and in great health...he was 6 and almost died two days later. we have spent almost a year making him healthy and he acts like a kitten now! i cant imagine being 7 and just not feeling good. its such a touching thing how he looks at us, like he knows we saved him.

It seems that cats just know when you save their lives! My first cat, Panda who I adopted from Animal Control, is constantly loving on me & snuggling me. Not so much as she did in the beginning, but she always still shows me ways that she's appreciative of me. I'm really hoping that she can at least keep her eye!

Thank you so much, really appreciated. She'll pull through either way, but I am just hoping she can keep her eye. I hope when this infection goes away she can see again. It's not for certain that she will, but we're really really hoping she'll have at least a little bit of sight.

Thank you so much, I really do appreciate it. I am doing what I can. They can't speak for themselves, so I try to be their voice. I enjoy watching them grow and recover from their sickness, it makes me feel so good to see the wonders I can do with love. :) Thank you for your prayers, she is recovering slowly. I can already see a difference two days has already done! I will definitely keep you guys updated on her progress. I am so thankful for the support.

Thank you, she seems to be doing much better. I think the swelling of her eye is going down, but I am not completely sure if I am just thinking it is cos I am hoping so bad. But either way, she will pull thru. :) I love it here, it was a great choice to join!

Really, I should thank them! They made me feel so much better about myself & boosted my self esteem. My kitties are the most loving cats I have personally ever met lol. & nursing them back to health just reminds me what amazing things I can do with the love I endlessly give them. :p
