Non stop meowing / yowling

Hi,

I've seen other threads on this but I couldn't find an answer.

Chester is 7...no health issues, thankfully. But he meows non stop. He's always done this but lately it's become louder and more insistent.

We could be on the couch, and he'll come into the room and meow at us from the other side of the room. Sometimes he'll come and snuggle with me or my wife, other times he'll meow until we go pick him up from across the room.

Other times throughout the day, he'll wander in and meow loudly, incessantly, insisting on something. Even if we've just fed him or cleaned the litter.

Now there are moments of course when he doesn't do this; sometimes he'll just be relaxing nearby or sleeping. But if he's up and moving, more often than not there is no peace and quiet here.

It may not sound like a big deal but it really is...it's just non stop and it's gotten to the point where I need to get out and get some quiet.

@Chester , I found my adult Toby doing this when he sensed another kitty outside, another time a feral cat in my attic. hugs n head smooches, surely others will chime in. any changes to household?

It means he wants something and it’s hard to find out what it is but eventually you’ll figure it out think about it as building your animal instinct.

@Chester , I found my adult Toby doing this when he sensed another kitty outside, another time a feral cat in my attic. hugs n head smooches, surely others will chime in. any changes to household?

ell we moved across country to a new place, but that was in May.

It means he wants something and it’s hard to find out what it is but eventually you’ll figure it out think about it as building your animal instinct.

It seems he just wants to communicate LOUDLY until we either play with him or…I don’t know. But it’s very often!

Even as I typed this, I was playing with him on the bed, after a bit he jumped off to the floor and started up again…a kind of yowling, almost pitiful sound.

@Chester , can vet check for peace of mind. peeing normal, poo normal etc.? any frequent in and out of liitter box? urine out put ok?

I got my Toby a one fast cat exercise wheel. he loves it. I tell him go fast toby go fast.. he meows and strolls on it with spurts.. lol , and in the middle of the night while talking

great idea I’ll try that out.

Once you figure out what he NEEDS and WANTS the communicating dies down alot. They are talkative too tho.

My three year old Ollie has done this since we got him. It once in a while turns to yowling like you mentioned and I had the same feelings as you , concerned.

The vet told me it was behavioural and he’s just attention-seeking. We got him a wheel and this had helped a lot but he still loves meowing and screaming around the house for attention.

I better note that we play with him very often and gets tons of love and attention. He just can’t help himself
