Othie Marie had the oral surgery...please pray for her!

Othie had a full mouth tooth extraction today...I feel so sorry for her. I brought her in at 80 for a physical exam and pre-op blood work. She got out of surgery at 10:30. I called and they said vet was to call me when she woke up, but I wasn't home, so I called them back at 10 as suggested. Vet said there was one molar they had to work pretty hard to get out. They had to drill it out and they sutured any of the large holes to help stop the bleeding...but that one was still bleeding, so they wanted to watch it and give her more pain meds. The side of her face was swollen and she was having some difficulty blinking. I called back at 40, bleeding had stopped but face was still swollen and eye is bloodshot, but was already better than at 20. But he wanted to make sure the bleeding was totally stopped, pain was managed and continue to medicate her tonight. I cried. He seems to think she'll be fine, that it looks worse than it really is...but she went through an awful lot today. Please pray for her. I love her so!

Well, my baby girl is home. Her eye looks terrible...I asked him if she's blind. He said "Not that I know of. And why are you so worried? If I pulled all your teeth out, your face would look awful too! Besides it looks 100% better than it did yesterday. Why do you look so worried?" I replied "because I love her!" I am happy to announce she has been eating since we got home! The poor thing has been so hungry for a long time. She's eating the wet food like a trooper. Part of her gums were stitched and the smaller holes left to drain....so they said don't be surprised if she coughs. But if I remember correctly they cough from the endotrachial tube anyway? I will watch her like a hawk! She just came into the living room and her eye looks better already. More present....if that makes sense. She's home and she's happy to be here. Thank you for all your prayers, will you keep them coming for awhile longer? I know that vet thought I was a loon...but I hate to tell you what I thought HE was! Why am I so worried about her?? Can you imagine a vet saying that to you? Oh well, he took out those teeth that made her life a nightmare. It's gonna get so much better for my darling Othie Marie and for that I am thankful to the creep.

So happy that you signed on to let us know that she is happy and home. Sorry that the vet was a bit of a jerk, but at least the hard part is behind you now and you can focus all of your energy on loving her and helping her get better.
