We had to let her go mid-March. For the only surviving sphynx kitten who was unwanted because she had a congenital defect in one eye and the the other was not perfect...she actually turned out to be a healthy, beautiful kitty. Her last day was a week before her 12th birthday. There was never anyone she didn't like...be it cat or person or dog who peeked into her carrier at the vet. The last time we took her to our local vet (we had to wait outside, it being COVID times in NY), it just seemed like she was never coming back out. When the tech brought her to us, he apologized ... they were having a heavy petting session. The two of us and her two furry sisters are not the same. I kept thinking we would get better and I would write a beautiful eulogy but everyone's hearts are so crushed that we are no longer who we were. My always aloof Biscuit became very clingy to both me and Paka when Paka was sick and has just plastered to me since Paka is gone. Foxy, my clairvoyant, had a urinary tract infection just before Paka got noticably sick and upon sonogram they found enlarged noncancerous nodes in her gastro tract. She may have IBD....(from stress?). Goodbye my Paka Na Harufu ("Little cat with stinky poos" in Swahili as she was named by the vet who delivered her and let us adopt her and her furry sisters). I had no idea what a sphynx was when I got this allegedly "special needs, blind cat" and now I don't know how we'll ever be happy without her. RIP.
