For those of you with Pet Insurance, how much do you pay a month? Who do you go through? How much is the co-pay and how does it work? I am interested in getting pet insurance but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. We have 3 hairless Sphynx cats (we breed them) a hairy Sphynx outcross, two dogs. and about 15 hedgehogs (we breed them too). I am needing insurance because with that many animals, who can afford the vet 3 or 4 times a month when one of them sneezes?! Anyway, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I guess you don't live in Australia then with hedgehogs. How absolutely adorable!!! I would love to see some photos ;). All I know is insurance is a very good idea, the earlier you get it in your pets life the better.

I am a HUGE believer in pet insurance. I use VPI insurance. I pay around 32 dollars a month per pet (I have 2 under the insurance). My company started offering it in April of this year and on a whim I signed up. They are specific on the age of the pet and the older the less coverage/more expensive they become. I chose to cover my 4 year old sphynx and just enrolled my 14 week old baby. I have both the major medical and annual exams to cover shots, blood work, teeth cleaning, etc., pretty much all the bells and whistles. You can chose your coverage based on your need so you can get it for less.

In June, the vet heard a slight murmur on Emma Leigh and we had to take her in for a heart scan/HCM test. after meeting the 100 dollar deductible, they covered 100% of the scan and subsequent appointments.

In August this year, my Emma Leigh was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and had to undergo a surgery and is now in chemo therapy. I received a check for over 6K to cover all these costs which was 100% of her medical bills AND we are still submitting while she is in her chemo treatment which runs about 300 a month.

I can honestly say this has saved us financially and allowed us to give Emma Leigh the best possible chance at a better life living with cancer.

I could not recommend it enough! Point forward, I will always have my babies covered under insurance.
