Hi guys,
You all have been so wonderful helping me get ready for my baby. I just called pet plan and they said they do not cover regular check up's shots teeth cleaning but only emergency visits or if the cat is sick. Is that how most insurances are?

the VPI pet insurance is pretty nice i think for us ... it says, doesnt matter what Vet you use . Makes me think others have an excuse and say, "you only can go to this vet!"
Anyone has this one ??

We have ASPCA health insurance. It covers Cleo's wellness care and allows us to go to any vet. The only problem, and I think this is with almost all insurance plans, is that we pay the vet, then the plan reimburses us.

That is strange about Petplan only covering emergency vet visits because we have both boys insured by them and they cover every visit. We also have the "plus plan" or something like that so that covers additional things like preventive care for like €50 a year (that basically covers their shots) as well as things like dental cleanings for 50%.
Maybe they have different policies in various countries??

I think it's different everywhere. As I posted in a previous thread, we got given a card that works like a bank card and just swipe it ever time we go to the vet. No matter what the reason we're there for is. We did ours through a bank and it is the absolute best. I think you just need to keep looking around until you find the best option for you.

That is what I though. He told me know you have to pay for teeth cleaning and shots he was kind of a jerk to me.

I just recently got the VPI for Bella. I think it is pretty good. I don't have any complaints and I love that I can go to my own vet. They cover a lot!

Our insurance pays for teeth cleaning and shots. And I believe VPI has plans that do also. Most American insurance companies have places on their websites where you can see their coverage and costs for the plans you like.

I have all of our cats insured with Pet Plan. I used to have VPI but got so tired of them "nickle and diming" their way out of paying for things.

PetPlan has been fabulous to work with. They don't cover routine exam and vaccines, because they figure most people can cover that amount.

You choose your deductible, your reimbursement and your coverage. All 5 cats have Bronze coverage ($200 deductible, 80% reimbursement) and it runs me a bit over $400 a year.

The thing you really have to watch is the coverage per INCIDENT or CONDITION? With PetPlan, it is per CONDITION.

My OSH developed a mild urinary incontinence that I wasn't excited about using medication to treat...PetPlan pays 80% of his acupuncture bills. Three years later, I pay the $200 deductible every year, but the rest is covered 80%.

I usually have a check from them within 2 weeks of faxing it to them. I've never had an issue and they are always very helpful when i call with questions.
