Starla has to take an antibiotic & an anti-inflammatory pill for the next week. Its horrible. She's clawed my whole arm up & didn't even swallow the darn pill. She was foaming at the mouth & her eyes watering because the pill is bitter & got on her tongue. I cried it was horrible. I tried to wrap it up in some food but the problem is she's so little & her teeth are so itty bitty they really are baby teeth so she has to chew really really good & in order for her to do that it means she bit the bill & because its bitter she spit it up. I can't crush it because its bitter LOL. I can't win! I was thinking I could crush it & put it on a spoonful of whipped cream since its so sweet it might counteract the bitterness & she might just go for it but I don't want to do this because the whole reason she's on the pills in the first place is an irritated colon & giving her dairy is just going to give her the runs again! Her tummy is super sensitive! IDK what else to do! :(

We have to give Emma Leigh steroids twice a day during her 6 months on chemo and it would not be possible without this little miracle!

PS: I load the pill, get behind Emma and lean over her. Then I use my free hand to pry open her mouth and stick the blue thing to the back of her throat and them shoot. It works 95% of the time without issue. I also bring treats so she knows if she is good she will get treats so over the month she has become more and more relaxed because she knows she is getting goodies.

Thanks. Bentley is so easy to give pills you literally drop the pill into the back of his throat & rub his neck & its done in 2 seconds. Starla is like "OH HELL NO"
I think its partly because she's so little.. :( My baby

Our vet gave us the popper for free so you could try giving them a call. Emma is tiny too (9lbs) and hates taking anything oral so this popper has been such a blessing! I almost passed out when the vet said we had to give her pills 2x a day for 6 months. Now it is a breeze!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I was thinking maybe you could hide it in a greenies pill pocket. We saw them at Petsmart on Saturday. Elvira was very interested in their packaging!!!!

We used to use the pill pockets and then Loki bit into a pill and it turned him off of them forever :( Since he is on meds every day, we had to do something. We called our vet and they too gave us a pill popper for free...so like Courtney said, you might try that route and ask your vet. If not they are a few buckets on line.

Whenever I have to give fluffy meds I usually put her in my lap with her back to me, use one hand to hold her mouth open, and then used my other hand to put the pill to the very back of her throat. I then shut her mouth lift her head up and rub my finger down her throat to force her to swallow. I usually know that shes swallowed it when she licks her lips afterwards. If the pill is too big you could try cutting it down and giving a little at a time. Fluffy is usually really mad at me afterwards, but it has to get done. Good Luck!

Talked to the vet today they compounded the medication into liquid & I went to pick it up on my break from work. :)
Still is going to be a fight because Starla is a sassy pants but will be better I'm sure! The only downfall is instead of once a day with the pill I have to do twice a day with the liquid. Wish me luck!

She really is a peanut too. I've gotta take a picture of her itty bitty teeth because it almost looks like she doesn't have teeth. I mean obviously her canines are out but her front teeth are so tiny they're barely out of the gum! That's why she pukes sometimes, she doesn't chew well.

I use a popper too. But liquids are sometimes easier. Good for your vet for compounding it for you.

I have just gotten really good at pilling with my finger. Loki was on everyday meds for over a year and practice makes perfect. Now that Ki has twice a day meds I thank my lucky stars she is so good for it and that I had all that practice
