My beautiful (almost) 12 year old girl Kiwi is going to the vets today ( 8.30 am UK time) for some dental work including sadly the removal of two teeth. I have already requested no Ketamine but can't help feeling anxious, she is no spring chicken although otherwise in good health with , as far as we can tell, no heart problems although she will be having some pre med tests before her op today.I am sat with her now giving lots of hugs and telling her how much I love her, but this is being met with cold stares as she is used to having breakfast right now and has to be "starved" from 10pm yesterday (she is very much a foodie) Please send your special Sphynx Lair good vibes her way for a quick smooth procedure and a good recovery .

Thank you for your support and kind thoughts. Kiwi is out of surgery and all went well. We will be collecting her in a couple of hours. I was feeling terrible about her loosing teeth, she's always had a good diet, etc no junk food" however our vet has told us that apparently when they had her under GA and took radiographs etc they are certain it is a condition called Feline Odontogenic Resoption, FORLs disease which is a kind of autoimmune condition where the odontoblasts attack the tooth tissue and cause resorption and pain. Unfortunately it cannot be prevented or treated apart from extraction . I possibly has a genetic tendency too. Not sure if anyone out there is familiar with this ? I asked them to check out her left eye too which had recently become watery and looked reddened under the lids and they think it is probably herpes related and they have also found a small ulcer. They have said while thee isn't actually a cure they are very confident it can be manages with medication the ease any soreness
