Pooner gave me a fright...

Last night Pooner scared and worried me so bad:Sweat:
He went to his litter box 15 times in 45 minutes and kept trying to pee but couldn't, I took him to an emergency vet and they wanted to get urine sample from his bladder but it wasn't full enough so they wanted to keep him overnight but he still needed his nightly atenelol so they let me take him home and I had to monitor his urinating habits.
I was so freaked out he had a possible blockage (although with bladder being small it was a sign that it might not be blocked) or crystal or UTI.
The thought of anything that required surgery is so scary because of his HCM it is super dangerous for him to be put under especially if he can't stop his atenelol for 48hrs prior to anesthesia.
So Pooner went back to the vet at 6:45am on my way to work for urinalysis. Good news is it was just a minor UTI (phew...:Woo:). They gave him an antibiotic shot and he's home now acting like his crazy normal self.

I just love him sooo much!!!:Adore::Adore:

That is scary! Hope he feels better soon!!

I've been giving Frank just a couple of drops of raw Apple Cider Vinegar in his water the past few days. He was urinating fine but only once a day since I got him. Since adding the ACV he's been going a lot more regularly at twice a day. But the reason I added the ACV is because I had done a lot of research about it and how beneficial it can be - especially with UTI and read countless experiences of it helping (on a neutral forum website).

Anyway, I'm an advocate of holistic / alternative health for myself and for my animals although I would never neglect taking my animal to the vet in an emergency situation like yours.

I hate it when they do that...

Your sure they're gong to DIE and you rush them into the E-Vet and it's nothing or something very minor...I know they(the pets) are sitting there laughing at us:Dizzy:.

So glad he's okay..

Naked Ninja, what is raw apple cider vinegar? You mean the kind that isn't clear and processed?

Glad to hear Pooner is not seriously ill. And praying he is as good as new very soon!
Hugs,
Susi and the gang

Yes Braggs sells an organic raw apple cider. I picked up some organic apple cider from Whole Foods. The main thing is for it to be unpasteurized which most regular ACV is.

Poor Pooner! So glad he is ok! I saw your post on facebook and was worried. It did sound like he was blocked and its good that you got him in so fast!
How were his U/A results? Did he have crystals as well or just an infection?
Big hugs to Pooner from Nofuratu!

Luckily no crystals and the ph was good. Seems to have been just a minor infection. He is doing fine now, I am so relieved.
