I'm so sorry to hear of this.
Poor Winston. Hind sight is 20-20.
But, I would never let anyone take him
anywhere without you being with him again.
They should have told you they were going to staple it
and discussed it with you. No, he should not have been bruised
like that. I would write a letter to the editor of your newspaper.
Or place a notice. That was very poor practice.
Hope he hills great.

Oh God, I just read this, and I cried.
I'm so sorry you and Winnie went through this. I wish you didn't live so far and you could take Winnie to our vet! They'd never let something like this happen!

Go online and find every place that vet is listed that is open to reviews and leave a review of how they treated poor Winston! It's a good thing for them that I wasn't there because I would have come through a wall after them! (probably would have ended up in jail for assault, but it would have been worth it!) There is no reason to ever treat any animal that way!

Oh no! That's horrible! I hope he heals quickly and you get some satisfaction from the people that tortured him. :Furious:

I am sorry your baby had to go through all of this, it sounds like no fun to deal with at all.

I do have a very hard time imagining that a person who has gone to school for the intention of helping animals would intentionally "abuse" any animal though.... Im not saying maybe they werent incompitent, but maybe there is more reason behind what happend. I dont think they ment to hurt or bruise your baby....It sounds like the bruising is very bad & should not have happend at all & I dont want to sound like im making excuses for that, but When they glued the wound shut, there were probably trying to avoid putting him through the pain of the staples. Sometimes glue holds, somtimes it doesnt. That sort of thing just happens. As far as the staples... My husband had staples in his HEAD once, and they gave him nothing to numb that either. Maybe there is a reason they didnt do a local? maybe the vet knew the risk of putting a shpynx under & didnt want to chance that either. It doesnt sound like a fun thing to go through at all, & I am sorry your baby got injured, but to me it sounds like they were doing what they thought was best. Aside from the bruising, I dont think anything you described is neglegence. It is customary to do a medical procedure without the owner present because usually our pets are MORE stressed out when we are there, but a stranger is handling them. I work with animals for a living (not at a vet though) & see this first hand. Also, some owners may be sensitive to blood/needles, that kind of thing & faint, or just freak out.

I know it's hard to see our babies in pain & hurting, but try to stay focused on just the brusing & find out what they did to him to cause that. You have every right to be very angery over that & there should be no reason for it. Keeep us updated & let us know what happens!
