Frank is my 6 year old pet rabbit and I hope it is okay to post a thread for him in this section. If it is not, my apologies and please move my thread mods :)

Yesterday Frank was his usual bouncy, boisterous self. Today when I got done with work I saw that he had not eaten and he would barely move. He is a food hound and he would not even sniff at his favorite treat (a craisin). He even smelled different.

After 45 minutes of calling around I finally found a vet who could see him today, 30 minutes outside of the city. They do not know what was wrong with him and they opted not to do blood work today as this is very stressful for a sick rabbit. His heart and teeth are healthy so they suspect respiratory issues. They gave him subcutaneous fluids and sent me home with antibiotics, pain meds, and powdered food to mix with water and syringe feed.

Rabbits go downhill very very quickly. Please send positive thoughts for my baby. He has looked like this since we brought him home two hours ago:

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Frank. My rabbit, Mr Longears was one of the best pets I've had. I think people don't realize they have personalities, they are loving and can be just like any other pet.

Good luck Frank! Feel well soon baby! I raised show rabbits for years and I know how hard it is but I pray he will be on the mend soon!

Praying for your precious one. I hope the pain meds will let him sleep comfortably tonight and that the antibiotics do the trick.

Thank you all for your kind words and positive thoughts. I am so sad to say that Frank crossed the rainbow bridge about an hour ago. May he binky happily into the next world. I am devastated, but also grateful to have had six years with him. I just wish we could have had more time than that.

Thank you for the kind words everybody. Frank was such a sweet boy. We will be taking him in this morning to be cremated and have his ashes returned to me in what I hope is a Zoa-proof container. Fortunately my other rabbit Anja is perky and energetic this morning. He and Frank lived separately but having lost one I am of course afraid for the other. Anja is 7 but so far so good. I will be setting up a wellness check for him just in case.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful boy and was loved very much. You will both me in my thoughts.

((Hugs)) Frank will always be a spirit in your heart.... I am so so sorry for your loss..it is obvious his life in this world was surrounded with so much love and care.. I am sure Frank is at the bridge hopping with our bunny angels and a few kitties..

So sorry you lost Frank. He was a cutie and it's obvious you loved him very much. I wish things would have turned out differently :(
