Hello! I picked up this little girl a week ago. I took a picture the day I picked her up. In the first picture you can see she had a minor rash on the side of her face, almost looks like a scratch. I honestly thought it was rug burn. In the second picture you can see the rash is worse a week later. She also has a small bump on her head. I’ve had her a week with my other two sphynx and took her to the vet today. The vet is concerned it’s ring worm. They took hairs from her tail for a test, which will take 5 days. They took a culture of the rash as a back up which will take 2 weeks. She said I need to isolate my cats and be very clean. In the mean time I have an ointment to apply to the rash twice a day. I’m taking the proper precautions but I just wanted to get opinions/experience from others. Does this look like ringworm to you?

I agree it doesn’t...issue is that ringworm can look different on some naked cats, so it definitely could be ringworm. We rescued a girl years ago and she only had scabby freckles not one ring. So your vet might be playing it safe, but that’s a good thing. You might pick this up...you can get on Amazon...always great to have on hand for many skin issues and I use it on myself as well. It is not toxic if ingested which is important since cats groom themselves so much

awhh hugs n head smooches. all paws crossed for good news updates, and hopeful not ring worm. have you noticed if she scratches her face on sisal on cat trees etc? my girl is notorious for scratching her face on her smart cat climber sisal.

Thank you. No I haven’t really noticed her scratch the area or rub it on anything. She hasn’t paid attention to that I nooticed so I didn’t think anything about it until the vet said something

hugs n head smooches, many of us use vetericyn spray. my other go to for other skin nicks is trizultra w/keto. I slightly wet a flat swisspers cotton round and gently dab on area twice a day. my vet got me hooked on it to clean ears.(i do not flush ears, just wet cotton rounds and qtips). it is dual purpose and can be used on skin. I clean nail beds too with it. I get at chewy or allivet. all paws crossed for good news updates.

Ughhh...I know it is stressful. Just do your best to stay positive. Ringworm is annoying but in the long run you will bet it. Keep your baby limited to a room to reduce chances of you getting it, or recontamination. Wipes down surfaces and wash your hands frequently...which you probably are anyways during this pandemic. Did you vet recommend anything else? Hang in there.

Waiting to hear back from her this morning. I put my other two sphynxes in another home to be isolated until this is all sorted, but one of them has started getting lesions. Taking him in today

I wanted to get your guys opinion. My kitten with ringworm was around my other cats for a week before we really noticed it. This past week they’ve been staying with a family member but one of them has a mark that could be the beginning stages of ringworm. I have miconazole topical from my vet. Once we confirmed ring worm In my kitten she gave me itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution). The test takes 5 days to come back and get results. I am thinking I should just give my cat with possible ringworm the oral and the topical now, and just skip the vet visit and the $200 test. Especially since he could have it and it would take a week to start treatment. What do you guys think? Is that even safe?

Call and ask your vet if they will prescribe for all and if there are side-effects. When I dealt with ringworm it was so long ago there were no oral meds and only bathing. Also in hopes to avoid the cost of a test, some vets first try shining a simple black light to test. It works in 1/2 of the cases...so worth the try.
