The other thing I like to mention, and really it makes sense if you think about it for a second, is that the more the animal hurts the more they will mess with the wound and guard it. My Ellie had a tail amputation and had to be on Onsior, Tramadol and Torbutrol for a couple of days. She never messed with her tail stump because her pain was handled. I truly believe if the pain is well managed there is no need for a cone in most cases because the animal will leave the wound alone.

And yes, Gabapentin is sedating so it would make him sleepy. Also, animals in pain will sleep more.

hello, checking in on sweet Grim
((hugs))) n healing head smooches continue

hello! we just got back from the vet, they said the stitches are healing well so far but looks a little bit puffy, no foul smell or oozing which is good. Poor baby has lost .4 kilos overall so far :( The vet sent me home with some liquid food and probiotics (to hopefully stop the liquid poops) and I am going back on friday. He ate half a can of wet food today with the probiotics sprinkled in them (new record!!) and was loving the liquid food (honestly it smells pretty good lol). Praying things go up from here.

@sphynxjinx checking in on Grim.. how is he today?

a big sigh of relief for my baby!! he’s been doing very well since last night. he’s been wandering around the house instead of laying down all day, has eaten wet food, treats as well as dry food!!! (thx gosh). i’ve been sprinkling flora (probiotic for cats) on his food and he’s been eating it up. crossing my fingers that the diarrhea and vomiting are over. hoping it’s up from here!! next vet visit tomorrow to check the wounds will keep you posted. look at my baby in a shirt lol:

Is that the catnip banana? That was probably the only effective catnip toy I ever bought. After a while I guess it loses the smell plus it gets grungy so I had to throw it out but it was good while it lasted.
